Flash drives do not last forever. If you want to keep it I suggest an optical disk.

I use excel....my copies are converted to PDF.
PDF is a good idea because it will always be readable by apps, also think that excel *.xls files will be readable well into the future, almost as good as PDF.

I wrote Shot Works Pro (https://shotworkspro.com) to help manage my stuff, then others wanted it too, so I made it better and started selling it. A famous gun writer bought a copy and has, the last time they told me, over 1300 firearms tracked with it. All encrypted, password protected data.
I know for a lot of people Excel or Google Docs works great. I hope some of you finds my software useful too!

i spent a good part of a day taking pics and recording serial numbers, details, history, and approx value on all my firearms. Right now it’s pics on a flash drive and paper but I would like to put it all on a flash drive and keep in the safe deposit box. I don’t have excel but have a windows laptop. Any suggestions for freeware or ?
Somebody suggested mygundb.com but the free version is only 10 guns max. I need quite a bit more and would also like to list some custom knives too.
Thanks in advance

Google Docs Spreadsheet. Will be able to be read by the cockroaches that will inherit the earth after the nuclear disaster. And it's free.

open office use to be a great program with a spreadsheet application similar to excel. Comes on most versions of Linux and they have a windows version. I believe you can save as an excel form so you may open later on.

The consumer version of google is not safe. If you take the time to read through the terms you agree to, which nobody reads, they are allows to all kinds of data you have. The same goes with most Apps you have on your phone.

If you want to be uber secure. A linux box with open office off network then saved to an encrypted flash drive.
