[No Quarter]

So, not only did I find an Astra Terminator this week, I just picked up a Colt Lawman MKIII Snub in Electroless Nickel. Gun is in great shape with the EN worn a little shiny on the usual high spots due to holster wear but is is in great condition with good lockup, smooth trigger and no scratches gouges or dings in the metal. I HATE the rubber Colt grips that are on it. I now have inherited a driving desire to try and find proper wood grips for it.

I imagine I will find said grips arund the time I am ready to be put in for a long dirt nap...

Might have to try and make a pair myself.

The snub Lawman would most likely have come w/ "Service Grips". Numrich has them in stock for $27 bucks. They also have the later style Target stocks which are far more comfortable when plinking full-house .357's (at least to me).

+1 - my E nickel Lawman came with the same grips (or stocks in Colt speak).

I replaced them with Colt Service stock and a T-Grip

Where, may I ask, did you find a set of service stocks for this gun?
My understanding is that the 2" Lawman will take only a special type of stock and none of the other grips will fit this gun due to it being a round butt.

If I am wrong and there are more readily available grips out there, please let me know. That set up (with a T Grip) is my favorite set up with all of my S&Ws.

I'd love to do the same with this little gem.

I found mine on *Bay. They are often mislabeled so you have to do a search for "colt grips" and page through everything. Tedious, but effective.

There is an auction ending in 3 days listed under "Vintage 'Colt' (early style) Trooper Grips" that I believe are the stocks you are looking for. If they fit, you owe me a beer.

I have an extra set of wood Colt Lawman Mk III 2" grips. Not perfect but restored admirably by a guy from the Colt forum. PM if you want to discuss.

To be clear these are Colt factory grips that showed checkering wear. That is what is restored. They turned out great but a shade or 2 darker in color. They are hard to find. I have $75.00 in the restoration.

Depending on your hand, probably work great too. I carry mine and it has the Pachmayr with the pinky indent on right now. I have 2 sets of wood service grips that are stock to the blue models, I am keeping one set.

This gun is a very stable .357 snub, no doubt. If you are going to shoot fire breathers try the rubber before you get rid of it completely.

PM on the way. I do like the feel of the Pachs on it, but I am a sucker for wood grips and a T-grip. Thinking of the Pachs for shooting and the wood for the display case. Of course, I get a kick out of full boat 357 ammo in my SP101 with wood boot grips so maybe I am just insane.

1)The grips for a 2" MK III Lawman is unique to this barrel length. Following is a picture of my blue MK III 2" Lawman with the factory original service grips that you need. Notice the round butt shape at the base of the backstrap:


2)Since I used to have a NIB E-Nickel 2" Lawman MK III I can confirm that your Lawman came with the rubber grips-which had the round butt cutout inside.

Thanks to a tip from Clang, I won an Ebay auction for some Lawman snubby grips. Got them today and installed them.

I love the look and, more importantly, the feel of the wood grips. I am ordering a T-grip and this little gun will be right where I want it to be.
