That DW is god lokin- However I haven't seen a shot enough bareled one around here to catch my interest. I am also looking really hard at the Smith 686 3-5-7 /5". Too sweet. Let's se what turns up first.

If the intent is to run a steady diet of full house .357Mag through the gun then I'd concur on the idea of a 586.
I've shot and own both S&W and Rugers. For DA shooting in speed related matches I prefer the S&W trigger feel for a couple of reasons. First is that it's got a smoother build to the release point. Secondly the Ruger action has a little "click" in the trigger feel where the cylinder stop is released. For some reason the S&W trigger system "places" the stop instead of letting it spring away. So you don't feel that in the trigger.
Now some will be quick to say that this "click" of the CS being release aids in staging the trigger before the BANG!. But for me I find it a trifle disconcerting. But then I had a couple of years of shooting with S&W's before my first Ruger came along. If I'd started with Rugers I might feel the other way around.
I know you mentioned that you prefer the full underlug look and recoil feel that it provides. But if you are looking at going with the S&W then seriously see if you can try shooting a S&W Model 27 or 28. The big N frame really tames the .357 recoil without smothering it. I don't like shooting full house .357 steadily from a K frame. But with the N frame it just makes me grin ear to ear. And they are darn impressive looking to boot.

I will take a look at the models 27/8. I don't know anyone that has one, but I'll ask around. Thanks for the recommendation.
The trigger is why I am looking at the Smith's. I have a Kimber 1911 and the trigger on it is sweet. It's hard to go backwards (unless it's super inexpensive). The Smtih trigger just feels that much better.

So........
I may have mentioned to the manager of my LGS that I'm kinda, sorta, maybe, thinkin' about a .357 wheelgun. And maybe it came up in conversation that I really like the TALO 686+ 3-5-7. And I think the 5" might be better for me. And he could've possibly mentioned that he can get them, with a little wait time. So, it's possible that one is coming for me to just, like, kinda... take a look at? Maybe?
