BHP or CZ75

I have a BHP clone. I'm thinking about my next 9mm gun purchase. I'm considering a CZ75. However, are they too similar to each other in feel and performance? Am I gaining anything over the BHP? Or shoud I look for something that's much more different?

Similar in feel and performance.

You may be gaining something, if only a DA mode, in addition to SA mode. You really need to try one before you buy, as the long DA trigger may be offputting to you. (Hi-cap mags are cheaper, too.)

I have both BHP and CZ75. CZ is more accurate and better trigger. BHP look and feel better in hand.

If you like the BHP clone's grip, the CZ may seem a bit chunky to you. You should probably rent a CZ sometime and put it through its paces; you'll naturally be biased toward what you're more familiar with, so it will require more time with each to be objective. If you're fond of the BHP, other directions to look include 9mm 1911s.

Some people have BHPs which are more accurate than CZ 75s - others have the opposite it seems. The BHP grip is a little thinner, but more square. The CZ 75 safety seems easier to operate. Both are attractive pistols. Both great handguns. The CZ can be more versatile with its SA/DA trigger.

The BHP has a very square backstrap, as opposed to the CZ's rounded backstrap; the obvious suggestion would be to shoot the CZ and see how it feels to you.

I've owned a CZ-75 in the past, now I own two BHP's.....

Both are great guns, both are reliable and accurate and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Personally I like the feel of the HP more than that of the CZ-75 and I also prefer the look of the HP. Not to say the CZ is ugly in any way, I just have always had a thing for HP's ever since I was kid.

I will say that one of the things I really love about the CZ is the fact it has a decocker and DA trigger. If I had to pick between one or the other as a ccw I would choose the CZ over the BHP. My BHP's are strictly range guns as much as I love the HP there are many other guns I'd rather use for carry purposes.

They look similar, but that's about it. They are very different guns. If you have medium to large hands the CZ may actually fit you better. Sure the DA trigger reach is long, but there isn't any reason you need to carry it hammer down. You also gain at least a couple rounds in capacity, current CZ-75magazines are sixteen rounds. If you want something a lot different get a glock.

I have one of each, I am looking for another BHP. The CZ is a great gun and I have no problems with it but to me it doesn't feel as good in the hand. Would I be upset if the only semi auto I could have was a CZ, no. (I'd rather have lots of semi autos.) You can't go wrong with either. My CZ can be carried cocked and locked, no decocker on my "B". Another option might be the HK USP, variant 1. Can be carried cocked and locked like the 75B or BHP.

If you do want something different, go plastic. Glock or XD, maybe the S&W MP.

My personal reasons for choosing a CZ over a BHP:

- BHP has a magazine disconnect, the CZ (75B, anyway) does not
- BHP carries 13+1 rounds vs the CZ's 16+1
- BHP is single-action only vs the CZ's option for DA/SA with most models

Both are great pistols, although I sort of consider the BHP a "compact" versus a full size, so I'd think the BHP vs a CZ-75 Compact a more even comparison.

But like has been said, both are reliable and accurate, its just a matter of which feels better in your hand.

I have both a BHP and CZ-75B abd 75D PCR. I can't imagine getting rid of any of them. Tough call, but since you already have a BHO clone, maybe get the CZ. My BHP is a little more accurate for me than my 75B, but not by much. My BHP is my most accurate handgun, but I was lucky as it had a good trigger out of the box which is not always the case.

I'm not a fanboy, I just had to make the same choice that you did.

I had an argentine hipower and I wanted to try something new. I shot a friends Glock 34 and I was printing one hole groups for me at 7yards... so of course that was my choice.

I like my G34 enough but I STILL want a CZ 75 and a real browning HP.

That's a tough choice. I prefer single action triggers, and the BHP is a tad smaller for carry, but it also has a magazine safety I'd have to remove, and my grip is so high the hammer tends to bite. So I went with a CZ-75 with the single action only trigger and slim grips.

I have both as well, and the CZ feels (to me) as if the designers used the HP's grip as the model for their design. I think of the CZ75 as a double-action Hi-Power.

A P35 feels kind of small for my hands and the older ones had small controls.
The CZ75 and it's offspring work better for me.

You can't go wrong with either of them., or the Glock 9mms for that matter
