living right near the MO border, the bianchi cup would be within reasonable driving distance for me and i have considered making the trip but had a few questions. first, are spectators allowed? i think it would be a great time to go and watch some of the best shooters in the world compete. second, how do you get into the match as a shooter? i have been doing a bunch of googling but have come up empty. i always place right at the top of our local IDPA club and i would really like to see just how bad these guys beat me (im sure it will be brutal). not to mention i would love to do it just for the experience. anyone here ever compete in this match before or know what it takes/how to get in?

Just a warning. It is an accuracy match, not a speed or movement match...the only real movement involved is getting into the prone position.
I had a class with Mickey Fowler late last year to see how hard it was to learn to shoot the Mover and it was a real eye opener. It isn't really that hard...the target only moves at a fast jog...but trigger control really is the key. It took me several runs to get all my hits in the 10-ring...and that was only at 7 yards
He said, to be competitive, you should be able to hold a 3-4" group at 50yards. So you should have a gun that will produce sub-2" groups at that range.
Plus you should figure out which class you'd like to compete in: Production, Metallic or Open

this much i knew. still looks like a great way to challenge myself and an opportunity to try something new though.
yeah.....i dont think i would be all that "competitive" at the moment lol! i think i will be able to get to that point with some practice, but it looks like i have some range work to do. thanks very much for the heads up! that gives me a goal to work toward.

3. practice drawing your gun so that it is on target as soon as you extend your arms...you aren't really going to have time to correct
4. practice shooting the barricades like they do in Bianchi...which is a bit different depending on which Division you're shooting.
5. there are a bunch of good videos on Youtube to give you an idea of how the pros do it

best gun i have for it now is the same glock 22 that i shoot in idpa. it has a lone wolf barrel and i shoot a hand-loaded LSWC. im not sure if this set-up can match the accuracy requirement. i just don't think the sights are up to it (they are pretty course, but work fine for closer ranges). i would like to pick up a good 1911 at some point but that probably wont be until next year.

The hardest part is finding a Mover to practice on. Getting the correct target makes a huge difference when calculating the lead to hold on the Mover
Did you ever send in your request for an invitation to the Cup?
The entry fee is based on which Division you want to shoot. Production is cheaper than Open or Metallic...I think it is just $250
