Let me start off by saying that I've been lurking on this forum for quite awhile. Lots of great info on here and I've really been impressed by the civility of all the members, especially compared with other forums i visit. Anyway, on to the fun stuff

I've been shooting since i was a kid. Started off when i was 7 in Boy Scouts and got to shoot a 10/22, Been hooked ever since. My brother and went quail hunting with my dad and his friends just about every time the went out. Lot's of fun being the bird dog :D Felt like I was the hottest thing on the block when i got to carry a single shot .410 Bought my own 10/22 when i was 15, a marlin. Loved it and shot quite often with it, I still own it infact. Then at 18, got my shotgun. Remington 870 express mag 20 ga. By that time i had reached my full growth, a whopping 5'6", 125 lbs. Seven years later and i haven't gotten any bigger. So believe me when i say, I'm a little guy, and I'll always be little :D Anyways, I've always loved pistols, so last year i decided to get one. So with tax refund in hand (well, in bank account, but you know what i mean ;) ) i go and get myself a nice little browning buckmark, largely due to the advice of everyone on this forum about first handguns. Took it to the range, lots of fun. After a few months and a couple thousand rounds of 22 lr, I'm thinkin it's time to move up. The range i frequent rents guns so i decide on a revolver chambered for .357 mag. Mostly just fired 38s, that was a lot of fun. Also tried a few rounds of .357. :what: BIIIG difference. Lotsa fun, but too stout for me. Then a couple of months ago, I move up into 9mm. Bought me ruger p95. Two months and about a thousand rounds later, I'm happy with the gun (it'll eat anything) and with my progress. My aim is steadily improving, and i've become quite accustomed to the recoil. Just recently got 3 more 15 rounders for it and i can pop off 60 rounds in a decent amount of time with a decent amount of accuracy. No problems with the recoil.

Now, let me say that really love the look of a BHP. Smooth and sexy. Just looks perfect. The gun store where i bought my p95 has one. Only problem, its in .40 s&w. Now, there's no way in heck that i'm gonna shell out 600 bucks for a gun in a caliber that i've never shot, so i had to rent something in .40. The only thing the range had was a glock. :barf: Don't get me wrong, I respect the glocks reputation immensely, but they are just sooo UGLY!!!! And what's up with that grip angle. Anyway, after 50 rounds, i have come to the conclusion that .40 is too much for me. I guess I'm just a 9mm guy. No problem, go back to practicing right?

By now you guys must be wondering when I'm gonna get to the point. Almost there, just giving y'all a little background, since this is my first post and all :)

Unfortunately, I also love the looks of the 1911, p220, and cz 97. They look so good, but they're .45s So i'm searching high and low for 1911 in 9mm. I know they're out there, but try finding one in East Texas. Ain't gonna happen.

Fast forward to yesterday. My fiance and I are at the range because i'm trying to find her a pistol that she is comfortable with. I hate the thought of her out and about, where anybody can just grab her, especially since the recent abduction of that WalMart employee right here in Tyler. But, back to the point of the thread. I've really been jonesing for a 1911, and I decide I've just gotta try a .45. After talking with the guy behind the counter, he hands me a cz 97b. Feels good, looks good, nice trigger. What the heck, I'll give it a try. 50 rounds later . . . . I am in LOOOOOVVVEE!!! :D Man that thing was fun!!

Also check out the SIG P220, which is possibly the definitive DA/SA .45 pistol. CDNN has them for a very good price.

BTW, welcome to THR!

Bigger is BETTER! That's why there are .44 Magnums and 3.5" 12 gauges and .458-caliber rifles... :D Welcome to the club!
