I purchased a circa 1980 Marling 336 in pretty bad condition last fall - all the blue had ben stripped off amongst other problems - and have been trying to put it back together in a nice presentable fashion. Not sure if I'll actually use it hunting, but I might just keep it as a wall hanger in the den.

Anyway, as part of the restoration, I ordered the Complete Perma Blue® Paste Gun Blue Kit from Birchwood Casey and hope to complete the rebluing over the next two weeks - while my wife is away.

Does anyone have any experience with this product? Are there any tips you can give me? Is there anything I should know about it before starting? Anything to be careful of? Are there any good web pages showing how to do it?

TIA

I would recommend Brownells Oxpho-Blue gun blue paste over any of the Birchwood Casey cold bluing products.
Perma blue is a fairly thin surface coating that is neither long lasting or decent looking.
