Had Sunday morning brain fart while reading and posting on another thread. With a few notable exceptions (Virginia Tech, Columbine, etc) the gun violence that riles up the press and politicians (and scares the heck out of suburban soccer moms) is usually inner city, drug/gang related.

To reduce the future number of unwanted, unloved, unparented, poorly behaved, gansta rapper, under-employed, under-educated, under-whatever criminals, maybe the gun community should sponsor effective birth control as a way to reduce crime. Sometimes, a penis is more dangerous (and has more long term consequences) than a gun....

A couple of ideas-

Pass out packs of condoms at anti- gun rallies
Press state/federal legislators to tie birth control to gun control legislation

Your thoughts on the subject? More ideas?

I've always thought that acceptance of public assistance should be tied with mandatory birth control such as the type that are inserted under the skin or an IUD.

But I don't see how this relates to gun control measures???

Oh boy!!!!

Did you just open a can of worms...

While there is some highly questionable merit to your proposal, I suspect that "targeted" birth control aimed toward specific ethnic groups wouldn't go far, and might be associated with Nazism.

However indirectly, your point that certain conditions in inter-city ghettos are the cause of violence is correct. Guns are simply the instruments used to inflict it.

Both the neighborhood residents and associated politicians are unwilling to admit what the real causes are and address them, beyond calling for massive and expensive government programs – which likely won’t happen. Therefore there must be a whipping boy and scapegoat to direct attention elsewhere, and guns are it.

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.

Old John seemed to understand mankind and human nature, something that (I guess) hasn't changed much in 200 years.
