I wanted my 300 BLK AR marked clearly so no one would try to load .223 in it. (I know, nothing is foolproof :))

I thought about a custom dust cover, but liked the look of the 300 Blackout Black Dawn upper. The name turned me off at first, but when they finally came back in stock I decided to try one. It was $92 and change shipped from manventureoutpost.com. I have since seen them a few dollars cheaper at bigsupplyshop.com.

The fit and finish seems very good. There almost no machine marks on the interior and none on the exterior. The lettering was sharp and crisp, the 300 BLACKOUT as well as the T Marks. The Picatinny rail was better formed than some uppers I have seen. I was impressed at first look.

It all went together easily and performed without issues last weekend. I am quite happy with it.

The P 223 scope is calibrated for .223, but I have found the two hash marks on the BDC reticule useful at 300 yards. I like the scope so much I may have to pick up another one.

You do know that Nikon makes a 2-7x with a 300 AAC BLK reticle called the P300, yes?

I've been toying with the idea of getting one for my upper.

Walkalong, nice upper. I ordered one to give a try on my 300 BLK. I agree, a lower marked 223 Remington gives me some concern.

But, if someone steals one of my "off caliber" rifles, it might serve him right to try and stuff the wrong cartridge in the rifle.:)

LebbenB, I have seen the P300 scope advertised but have not investigated it. I am not sure what ammunition it is calibrated for. I find the P223 3x scope BDC reticle functions fines with my ammunition after I calibrated it at different ranges.
