Black Friday Around the Corner

I just picked up a hoppes tactical 3 gun cleaning kit for $20 at Midwayusa. The regular price....83 bucks! 60 dollars off! Holy crap! LOL!

Keeping an eye on 12 gauge Buckshot and hoping someone puts either Remington Gun Clubs or Sport Loads on sale so I can stock up for next season.

Other than that, as usual, looking for 5.56 green tips at a fair price.

Bulk 55 grain FMJ bullets.

Maybe a 300 blackout upper if one comes along at the right price.

What I'm eyeing... A couch near a roaring fire place with my feet up, a copy of Walden that my wife got me for my birthday, a sleeping cat on my lap, and a sipping glass in easy reach with a generous pour of something aged at least twelve years, neat.

Monmouthreloading.com has Hornady 55g FMJs for $77.95/1k.

Foot spa, coloring books, jewelry, etc.. Only things for my wife. I'm fighting the urge to buy gun stuff while window shopping the sales ads. I think I understand heroin addicts now..

Ooh! And I'm having stents taken out of my nose! Friday can't get here soon enough..

Psyopspec, You do realize that Walden Pond was only a half-mile from Thoreau's house and his Mama brought him sandwiches and snacks several times a week. :D Wordsworth is far better...

I might dip into the nickel,dime,1/4 jar and see if I can scrounge up enough coin for a couple of tins of #10 perc caps,,,,
Oh!!!!!, and something to stick them on,,, ;)

@samweller

I take anything written by a transcendentalist as being fiction in the empirical sense, and regard the lessons or "truths" in some cases, to be like those I'd get out of a novel. But you're right, Walden's not a documentary in any sense and there's plenty to indicate that the author was a pedantic ass and a contrarian against his own times, maybe even just for its own sake. That's probably what resonates with me. :scrutiny: It certainly wasn't his taste in facial hair.

Despite that, HDT had some things to say that I find intoxicating:

"If I knew for a certainty that a man was coming to my house with the conscious design of doing me good, I should run for my life..."

"Shams and delusions are esteemed for soundest truths, while reality is fabulous."

Wordsworth is far better...

I haven't yet had the pleasure, but my wife has a collection of his that I'll have to check out on your advice.

Well, we just had the Wanenmacher Arms Show at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds, so I'm not really in a position to spend big bucks on anything. I might just go to the indoor range at my LGS and practice, practice, practice. (We're expecting heavy rain and cold weather.)

.
psyopspec and samweller, I soundly appreciate your contributions to this thread. Now I'm on a verbose kick... to wit:

I will be avoiding any and all retail establishments or purchases elsewhere save for the absolute essentials this weekend. A trip into town this morning should cover those immediate needs. We are already prepared with our contribution (a sublime Jello dessert of my wife's concoction) for Thanksgiving dinner down the road.

These last few years have been kind to the armory. I have sufficient arms, powder and ball. Of course, that doesn't mean I have my eye on a few items come this spring...

:D

I did my black friday shopping at Cabela's early. They were doing a free shipping for orders over $49. Ended up getting a holster for a '58 Remington and some ammo that was on sale.

As for actual Black Friday, I've nothing planned shooting wise.

Dick's betrayed us before and still refuses to carry ARs. I'll give no money to our enemies.
They still sell guns, and I'm sure the golf and tennis crowd that brings in most of their profit would prefer otherwise. That's a pretty soft betrayal IMO.

Bloomberg is our enemy, not a store that sells guns and ammo.
