Don't Look at the pictures yet!

You are in the woods Hunting with your BP weapon of choice.

This is the Quiz:

1. What would weapon/load would you shoot him with?
2. Where would your point of aim be?
3. What did you just shoot?

:D

Hypothetically speaking, since I don't know what deer it is(looks like caribou/reindeer) or where it is.

If within 20 yards, I'd hit it with both barrels of my 20 gauge Howdah pistol firing 350 grain .51 cal round balls. He isn't going anywhere due to about 50 grains of fffg propelling each ball. My POA wold depend upon the range, load, and shooting characteristics of the gun.

If further than 20 yards, I'd either anchor it with my DGW .50 cal Tenn Mtn Rifle flintlock, with about 70 grains of 2f and a PRB or 80 grains and a Lee REAL bullet.
OR, my TC Renegade or New Englander .50, with about 80 grains 2f and a TC Maxi Hunter, cast by me.

I'd aim for the heart/lung/shoulder area. Unless I could get a headshot, since I cant afford to get the head mounted, I'd just use the antlers for accessories, handles, buttons, etc.

Is Santa gonna be mad at me for shooting Rudolph?
Or would I get my gun and vehicle confiscated and lose my hunting license/have to pay a fine for shooting a deer I wasn't legally allowed to shoot? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I seriously think shooting that one would get me on Santa's permanent naughty list.

Roudoph

I'm not sure if that is his name, but I'm sure he has one. It is someone's pet. I don't shoot critters that have names. He comes home and stays there till hunting season is over. Then the whole family splits for the year. More pictures of the family. One good old boy from Yacolt said it was a Columbia Whitetail Deer, a protected species. CWD are found only on Vancouver island between Washington and Oregon. I believe that he is wrong, but never having seen a CWD, I'm not sure. I think you may be correct - that it may be a member of the reindeer family.

Ho-Ho-Ho my a$$ Fat Man - Get all them critters off of my roof.

:what:

1. .50 Kentucky 55 gr 3f. PRB
2. Heart / lung area
3. white critter ( OK, OK, albino deer )

Pet nothin'. That's a wild animal, not a domestic pet. If I knew it was someone's legally owned pet, I would pass up the shot.
If it was a wild animal that visits someone's property to eat, because they feed it, I'd shoot it and eat it. Plus use it's antlers and bones and skin to make useful items.

Checking Wikipedia, fallow deer come in white, which is not an albino.
Now, if it was an albino white tail, I would shoot it as they are a mutant and we don't want to continue that gene line. Besides, an albino mount would look good on my wall.

I hunt in Florida with an 1858 Pietta stainless steel bison revolver with a 12 inch barrel. My hunting load is 35 gr of 777, a wad and a .454 ball. This load chronographs out of my 12 inch barrel at a very conservative 1200fps / 450lbs and extremely accurate. This gun/load combo will drop that mutant in a heart beat.

According to Oklahoma Game Laws, you can harvest an albino deer, but you have to get written permission from the department first.
