My older son and i went to the range today. We took the 1851 Confederate, 1860 Army and the cva 209 Buckhorn 50cal.

Wow is all i can say We were using 20 grains black powder and .451 round balls. They shot really really nice. between both revolvers we shot well over 100 rounds through both guns. On the 50 cal. We probably shot around 50 rounds. After that i had enough and so did he. So we packed up and went home. The high light of the day was with one of the Range Officers. He was always watching when we were shooting our 50. finally i asked if he wante to try it. He said heck ya. So i put in 3 50grn pryodex pellets. Behind a 410grn hornaday. He primed it up and pulled the trigger. It was fun watching him say OUUUUUUCCCH. Ya i pretty much gave up on trying to shoot a magnum load. 90 grains of black is good enough for me. We were shooting paper targets on the handguns for a while. Shooting steel at 100 yards with the 50. Then i moved everything to the 50 cal rifle area. Loaded up the handguns. Used a sand bag and started to shoot steel at 100 yards with the handguns. I really had to practice a bit with the sighting. Then one handgun is different from the other. But overall had a good time.

Spent about 1 hour cleaning them up when we got home. Took them all apart. Even pulled the nipples off and cleaned them too. Then lubed them up like crazy and put them in the safe until next time.

one thing i forgot to add. Bore Butter works very very goooooood

i put in 20 grains black, Wonder wad, bullet, borebutter.

it was a little messy. However the end results. Wow the guns really cleaned up good. especially in hot water. i did cheat a little on the barrels. What can i say im too used to smokeless powder. i sprayed in some of the foam bore cleaner in all the guns then cleaned all the small stuff. Once i did that i ran a bronze brush with a patch around it. Then just dry patches until they came out clean

NOPE i should have taken some but i was just tooo busy shooting. i imagine once i start to get bored i will start taking pictures again.
