Do any of you have any experience wht the Blackhawk Sepra. Will it work as well for concealed carry...I already have a box full holsters and do not need any more that will not work for my intended purpose...Nobody around here sells them so I cannot look at one before buying. Thanks guys
 
A lot of guys at work use them. They're open carry (LEO) but aside from hiding it under a large shirt, I don't think they're very concealable, about the same as a Fobus belt holster IMO.
 
I've got two - one for my Beretta 92fs and one for the Springfield XD .45. Personally I consider them superior to Fobus - smoother draw, better retention of the weapon (if you buy the version with the retention button). This time of year they're easy to conceal under a medium or heavy jacket. It's also nice to have the option of belt or paddle, angled draw or straight.
 
I dislike them. Just my personal opinion.

I don't like the release button. I don't like putting pressure down with your trigger finger while your drawing the gun. I've seen too many students trying to go too fast under pressure, yanking the gun out and the finger pushing immediatly into the trigger guard before the gun is pointed down range.

I should also note that I'd read about these concerns before purchasing. In my own experience, however, I found that only momentary inward pressure was required to release the weapon, and my trigger finger naturally rests indexed along the top of the trigger guard of the weapon once it clears the holster. That doesn't mean it isn't a factor, however. Safe practice before using it for actual carry is the watch word here.
 
Like I said, it is just my personal opinion. Many knowledgable people like them.

Correia, I like mine because of the SERPA retention feature. When I draw, I am already in a full shooting grip with my trigger finger exactly where it should be - on the frame, just above the trigger guard - ready to move to the trigger if necessary.

If they are "putting pressure down" they may be trying to press a button instead of just letting their finger lightly depress the release as it slides over it.

I just ordered a shoulder "platform" to mount this holster to since I am very confident and comfortable with the SERPA feature.

Edit - since psyopspec already said what I was typing :D I will add this. If the retention screw is set too tight, it will feel like the lock has not released and the user will try to press harder. BTDT:banghead:
 
Not concealable, but I think they're great. I use a Sherpa with my two XD's and they work great. The release button is located exactly where the end of the index finger falls when you reach down and take a normal grip. Just practice the draw a bit using an unloaded gun and it become second nature very quickly.
 
I carry a Glock 23 concealed quite well with a blackhawk holster. I generally wear a vest or untucked shirt anyway, so it makes it easier. And as my friend is fond of telling me, I'm big enough to conceal a desert eagle .50 A.E. if I so desired...
 
Ok thanks guys I this will be out for me...I will probably order me a HIgh Noon slide guard for my OWB holster (HK USP Compact)...I am using a Summer special for IWB...But there are time I need a good OWB holster....There are times that I also want a paddle holster for just running.
 
All of my OWB holsters are SERPA. They're made with great quality and sit very high n' tight on your hip. The retention on them is great too. I could do sommersaults or hang from my knees on monkey bars and my piece isn't going anywhere.
