I am quickly seeing the need for a few blackpowder revolvers. Especially maybe a pair of 1851 Colt Navy's... love them!

Figured you guys could help me out a little.

First does Pietta have a web site? I found Uberti's ====> LINK but was unable to find one for Pietta.

Second, which do you prefer Uberti, or Pietta. Why?

Third, is there one place better than another to buy them?

THANKS!

Tom

As far as a web sight for Pietta, I have yet to actually see a fully functioning one but as far as quality goes Pietta's quality in the past years have been on par & sometimes surpass that of Uberti's but that is not to say that Uberti makes bad firearms it's to say that Pietta has improved their workmanship to theirs pieces as compared to the past.

I have 3 Pietta & 1 Uberti & an original Colt & outside of the original not being fired by me "family heirloom" eanch of my repro. revolvers shoot wonderfully & I've had my oldest Pietta 1860 Army for over 25 years.

Cabelas is one place I'd look for some good deals on some C&B revolvers, the ones that they show on their sight are Pietta & like I said they are some fine pieces, & if there is a problem with your purchase Cabelas will make you happy no matter what.

Ok my .02 cents. ya their web site has been in need of help for a while. However comparing the two. Like what others have said and will say. Pietta's quality is right up there now a days. a good place to get a pietta is cabelas. now when your on the site the lowest price revolvers are the piettas. I have bought one from cabelas myself works awesome. in the past few times i have tested all my revolvers it has outlasted all of them. so i can tell you with out a doubt that the quality is very good. As far as Uberti there quality has always been top notch however i have seen over the past 7 months a lot of members here have had to send back brand new ubertis to the places they purchased them with problems from timing to finish. regardless of what you purchase as long as you buy it from a reliable source you will be ok. Places like cabelas really take care of their customers so if you purchase one then find out it has a problem they will exchange it for you no problem.

Pietta Vs Uberti

Pietta is producing a SUPERB QUALITY GUN NOWADAYS that matches Ubertis standard of Quality . Of course ...You will pay more for a Uberti...
and IT WILL Have a higher Re- Sale Value....... I own both...bought them all Used and saved even More hard earned $$$... LOVE THEM ALL TOO!
The best advise Now is to make up yer mind and get em QUICK cause
The EURO is beating the HECK outta the U.S.dollar and prices on these things are climbing everyday.....even on the auction sites! What i could get 6 months ago for $160 is now at least $275.....if this is indicative of what is going to continue you better act now!

Type in BP Stuff. On that website you can get a Pietta 1851 Navy defarbed, fire blued, cylinders camfered, grips oil finished and sighted in(cowboy tuned) for $250. Ready to go shootin.........Mike

'Defarbing' is the practice of removing maker's marks, proof marks, date codes and other material that identifies the gun as of modern manufacture. It's done by reenactors and others who must be 'period correct' with their equipment, clothing, etc. It's also done by people who are intent on deceiving others as to the origin of guns they wish to sell.
