I think you should save your money and buy fewer, but higher quality, pieces.

The 'cheap' stuff all came whilst I was still at school and the more expensive pieces only since I've been working, but the quality ones on my wish list are still about the same price as a small car, so they will come...in time.

I have one of those "knuckle duster" fixed blades. Make in Pakistan, right? Heh.

I bought a knife store that was going out of business, once. Just cheap chinese and pakistani stuff. I wound up walking away with well over 500 knives for pennies and while 99% of them were crap it was fun just to be able to use one, break it, shrug, leave it there, and take out another one.

I did get some interesting playthings in the deal, though. I'll post pictures of my collection some time.

Wrong....;)

The Knuck knife is a Cudeman from Spain, it's actually got a button on the side to release the blade, which is pretty cool:)

an Applegate-Fairbain

That would be a welcome addition To any collection. Or... maybe something in Damascus... Hummmm:rolleyes:

Ohhhhh, the list can get very long.

You might want to replace some of the earlier collected items with the originals they were copying. Get a couple of good Case or Buck knives. Since Slip Joints are allowed in the UK those should be easy. Pick up a Buck 110. Get a real Long AF from some antique shop there in the UK. Get a Golock.

You don't have to buy "small car priced" knives to get great customs. There are guys here in the US that are not huge names that can make great pieces for under $300. Check the Jesse Davis pieces I've posted.

Been looking for an A-F at military fairs etc and every keeps trying to pass off the copies as originals, very fustrating.

Only a couple are copies, the small Kukuri is a copy from Tunisia, the 110 is unknown and smaller lock backs are from a company called commanche, oh, and OTF is your standard mail order junk, but try getting one of those 'upgraded' over here is a no-no:rolleyes:

You need some assisted openers like a Kershaw Leek. And where are the Randalls? Nice collection.

You live closer to Scandinavia than I do, and yet I don't see a Scandinavian knife of any kind. I suggest you remedy this problem post haste. :D

I have a smal collection of knives also. I do have some rather "cheap"knives which I bought, not because of their usefulness but more because of their style and artistic nature. A few of the relatively "inexpensive" (different than CHEAP) knives I have are made by Old Smoky, Case, Schlade, Frost, Gerber and Buck. I like these knives because I'm not afraid to use them. They hold an edge like nothing else in their price range and if they are damaged in any way, I don't feel bad about tossing them to curb. You can buy two of the aforementioned brands for the same price as the high dollar (or pounds in UK) blades.

some of my fixed blades....

Been looking....not that keen on the leeks but was at a gunshow last week and there was a few tasty Randalls there that got my interest but still thinking...

Nice collection.
Thanks:)

Thats because I don't like them, sorry.:D

Big Fixed blades for me are generally gonna be 'shelf queens' anyway.

Every collection needs a Ka-Bar

I very nearly had one, my buddy said he'd let me have his original WW2 in mint condition. He bought it round for me to see, then changed his mind and took it away again:cuss:

Still, what are friends for....

JTW,

I like your taste in knives, especially the 2-7th from left. :)

John

Loandr,

In your pics, first box on left, blade on the bottom with the light coloured scales....

More details please:D

Boom-stick. Looks like you're into: legal carry knives for the UK and dangerous looking fighting type knives.

You've got a UKPK which is great but you might consider something a bit more socially acceptable (I can almost guarantee you will get it confiscated, at the least, should a policeman catch you with it unless you can make a good excuse for it. It may be legal under the knife laws, but he can threaten to charge you under the offensive weapons act anda £55 knife is probably cheaper than the legal fees of making him do it so...). A Case folder, a good SAK or any of the more expensive ones (like the MWH Legacy) would do you well.

As for nasty evil pointy things, I think you need (this will probably be a long term wishlist but that's the fun :D):

A karambit (Emerson Karambit or...well not many quality companies make them so probably from a small American maker)
A dagger (Fallkniven Fighter, Applegate Fairbairn, Fairbairn Sykes)
A bearclaw style knife and/or hide-away knife (CRKT bearclaw, the Hide-Away Knife)
A tanto, either a folder (Emerson CQC-7 or Benchmade Stryker etc or a Cold Steel fixed blade tanto perhaps)
An assisted opener (one of the Kershaws or Camilluses)
A nasty looking fixed blade (Ka-Bar, one of the big SOGs)
A bowie (so many people make them well, pick whatever really)
Something silly and over the top like a Gil Hibben
A Spyderco Civillian (the ultimate "this should be illegal and probably is" knife :D)

Also, you should get:

A good and proper locking folder (anything by Benchmade or Spyderco really)
A bushcrafter (plenty of British makers out there, you can even get a kit and build it yourself)

S30V , Paul Bos HT , .200 thick at the spine.

Just finished this one up recently.... have 2 more like it with different hand materials I have to stitch the sheaths up for this week. All S30V
and one in S30V I bead blasted with al ox ( sheath by me as well ).
