Blaser rifle

Blasers are the Mattel toys of the gun industry, cheap made with fancy wood to jack up the price. Comparing a Blaser/Mattel to Rolls Royce is like comparing a sas to a Holland and Holland Royal double. People who know good guns, and have pride in ownership do not buy junk like Blasers. Their absurd prices are calculated to snare wannabies who are imressed by price tags, as long as the price isn't too much. Blaser has profited by exploited this lower middle price wannabe bracket, just as jewelers have exploited the "almost looks like real diamonds" for buyers who don't recognize quality but want to be impressed, or impress others.

I like them. The only two I've shot seemed very well made, smooth action, nicely machined, very nice wood that was well fitted, and reasonably accurate.

Anyone have any actual in hand bad experience with one? Internet stories don't count.

Guns like Blaser and Merkel are the highest standard of quality that a firearm can archive. They are hand made and every single detail is set to perfection. When you pickup a model 70, you can feel that the raceway is not entirely smooth, I can even see imperfections in the craftsmanship of the stock of a Model 70 supergrade. You buy one because you can afford it and you don't want to buy a rifle and then have to take it to a gunsmith to get it to where you want it to be. What you should really be asking is why people buy Rem 770's and Mossberg's.

People don't buy Blasers because they are pretty because they certainly aren't They don't buy them because they are more accurate than a well tuned Model 70 or Model 700 because they aren't. They aren't smoother of action than a polished Howa 1500. They have switch barrel ability but extra barrels cost more than several other rifle brands. People buy Blasers because they WANT one and that is the only reason needed. As for me,if offered a Blaser in any caliber OR a Savage Model 110 free of charge I'll definitely take the Savage.

Sure are a lot of folks that know why people buy Blasers, when they don't own one...and probably have never shot one...

I don't know why some of you folks want to put down what other people have or like. You think a Savage 110 is better or prettier than a Blaser, well I might think that's crazy, but I wouldn't start ragging on you about it. I happen to like the looks of them, and I own a Savage too.

I see a bunch of folks ragging on "pimp" (engraved or inlaid) pistols over in the handgun forum this week too, must ge a lot of gun envy going around for Christmas.

Personally I think Blasers are about as ugly as you can make a gun. I don't see the point in them either.
Sounds like a case of envy to me:rolleyes:
I like there Tactical R93 personaly but would love to have a S2 Safari rifle in 500 nitro. And if I could afford it I would and just beacasue!

I never said anything AGAINST them or people who own them(other than that they are ugly, the guns not the owners). I do think they offer nothing over what other rifles do and at cost a heck of a lot more. If you want art buy the Blaser. If you want a rifle buy anything including the Blaser.

Its the law.

In many European country, you cannot carry a cocked rifle (thus the external cocking/decocking on the Blaser R93 and Mauser 03).

In many country, you cannot transport an assembled gun.

In others, the action must remain open until game is spotted (thus the break open guns).

Others, you can only have one gun, period, so doubles and drillings with rifle and shotgun barrels.
