I'm looking for a Blaser R93 synthetic professional model. Has anyone seen these stateside? I called Sig but they ran me around and then I left a message with the person they suggested and they have yet to call me back. The rifle is on the Blaser website but no pricing and the information is unclear about setup. Any info would be much appreciated.

Protozo,

The store I work at is a Blaser Trophy Dealer and I’m kind of the default Blaser “Professional†(as I find their gun designs extremely interesting). We have in stock a couple different Blasers. We just got in a couple R93 Synthetics (Offroads) that are currently in WSM calibers (which of course can be changed).

You have to understand that SIG is the importer of Blaser, as such unless SIG has them in country, it can take months to get them (what with manufacturing, shipping, import regs, etc). My guess is that with the Professional being a new item it hasn't been imported yet... (I actually think Blaser takes care of their European Dealers first then their export sales).

As to Setup I’m not sure what you are asking. Keep in mind that R93 is a “modular†system. How do you want it set up?

What Caliber do you want?
What contour barrel do you want? (normal, Semi-Weight, Match, Safari, Tracking)
Fluted?
Do you want open sights?
Scope mount?

Keep in mind that some barrel contours may not be available as “stock†items in a specific caliber.. but I’m sure Blaser will be more then happy to make exactly what someone wants for a price.

Having said that if how you want the rifle configured is a “standard†item, it should be fairly easy to put together what you want if SIG has the “Professional†stock in. If not then it may take some time getting one from Blaser.

I’ll be at work tomorrow is you want to call and I may be able to give you more data (i.e. pricing, availability, etc). My number at work is 401-889-0842 and I’ll be there from 9 am to 9 pm.

Thanks for the excellent info. I picked up a Blaser catalog from LL Bean. The professional is not listed. What I would like is a left hand, synthetic stock, R93 with a fluted barrel in .338 Win mag., .300 WSM, and possibly .375 H&H I would prefer a 26" barrel if available. Now where I'm confused is just exactly what the professional model entails. I wanted the professional because I like the stock with the palm swells and inserts and I like the color. I have handled the basic synthetic R93 and did not really care for the gray synthetic stock. If you could clarify what the professional platform entails I would appreciate it. Also, given the info. I gave you I would really like to hear about pricing and availbilty on one of the calibers I mentioned above. I'd give you a call but I work nights and am asleep most of the day. Thanks again.

PS I would like a scope mount rather than open sights

Alright, after a little research here is the deal. We believe that the R93 is not available in the US... as of yet. The reason we believe so is that #1 (as I said in my previous post) we just got in a few Blasers, with these were included new price sheets (from SIG), no where is the Professional Listed.

#2, While the Professional is listed on the Blaser website (english version) it is not listed on the SIG site (or at least I can't find it).

This may be the reason you haven't heard back from SIG yet.

I found the Professional on Blaser's wesite (english version) but that is all I could find. It looks like the are expanding their Synthetic line. The "Standard" synthetic is now the Offroad and they have added the Professional. With the palm swell on the Professional you have to order a "right" or "left" hand stock. (this kind of defeat one of the concepts of the R93's modular system in my mind)

The synthetics we have in are Black stocked not Gray, however they don't have the rubber inserts/palm swells (which I believe why they call it a professional... have to verify this. If your wanting all three calibers I have a question regarding the synthetic stocks. While I know R93 are interchangable there is a question about the barrel contour in regards to the stock. On a wood stocked R93 (with a foregrip) you have to change out the foregrip when going to a 375 H&H (and larger) barrel due to the contour. We are not sure about the Synthetics. Off the cuff I say if you got the stock for a .375 you could change barrels however the inletting would be wrong (larger gap) for the "lessor" barrels. I'm going to have to verify my thoughs on this with our Blaser Rep.

Until we can verify that SIG is going to import this I can't get pricing nor availability. Sorry. I'll be at work all weekend... if you have any questions give me a call.

Well, Thanks again for all your help. I'll wait and keep checking. For the prices they get I want to be able to get exactly what I want. Thanks again I'll save your number and check back in the future.
