Sig's Rainbow 239

Strait from Sig............

May 2004 Limited Edition

The P239 Rainbow Titanium is a SIGARMS Limited Edition pistol. Released in May, this SIG SAUER P239 is chambered in 40 S&W and features a high-polished Rainbow Titanium finish on the slide, trigger, hammer, control levers and grip screws. Comes with contract sights and two magazines.

Anyone want to explain a "contract sight"? I want the gun with hit-man sights...:neener:

It's...kinda cool looking.

But it also makes me a little sick to my stomach at the same time.

And would anyone take you seriously if you hauled that thing out from 3 0'clock on your waist to stop a threat?

Rainbows are symbolic of homosexual people. While I'm not a gay person myself, I see no problem with homosexuals owning guns. I think it's just fine for people of the 'bent' persuasion... just don't expect me to shoot it! Somehow I doubt that anything does or will exist. Funny, case coloring often takes on a rainbow appearance.

I've seen folder knives with that finish that looked OK, but I prefer that my guns not look like that. Burglars and muggars might even laugh before being shot with one of those. They ARE kinda catchy for getting the wife to pick up a new gun that she thinks looks nice and shoots nice.

I heard a story form a former UC cop who claimed he had to pull his piece when a deal started to go sour and the the gun came out with the IWB clip on holster still attached and the stoned BG thought it was so funny he started laughing and gave up with no shots fired.

If they die laughing you won't have to shoot them :)

If the price premium wasn't more than $75-100 I'd probably buy one if I saw one just to be different.

PS as someone said on one of the political boards: if gays with 2% of the population can change the social fabric of this country, why can't 70+ million gun owners protect the 2nd Amendment?

Maybe this is SIG's attempt to recruit them to our side :)

Am I crazy, or doen't the color change depending on how the light hit's it and what angle you are looking at it from?

I think that it is probably a much better looking pistol in person than it is in a picture......

I hope to see one in person that I can get a better appreciation of it....

Then again, it could be ugly as sin...

However, I would imagine that you would be just as dead if you were shot with a rainbow sig.....

I look at this the same way I look at Leeks and Chives that are rainbow-ed.

They're a novelty item to me, nothing more. Kind of like the Bushy "Lady", companies are trying to appeal to everyone, which I heartily applaud.

The first to place an order will also be given a VW van that has sat in the Bethal PD's impound yard since August 1969...

Call me crazy, and I am a newbie on this forum, but choice is a good thing. So what if Sig produces a rainbow colored slide. The people who purchase it might be swing votes in a close election. I welcome anything that draws more people into the fold of defending our rights. I like the black look, but a rainbow colored 9 is going to eject the same type of projectile. Now waiting for the hotseat.

Huh. I kinda like that sort of coloring--I had a zippo that looked like that for all of a week or two before it disappeared (into my car somewhere, I think). Doesn't really look right on a gun--but on the other hand, it doesn't look quite as wrong as engraving :barf: to me personally. Certainly wouldn't want to expose it to holster wear or even normal range scuffing and dinging, though.

exactly. maybe someone has a gun phobia but sees a rainbow sig then suddenly guns arent so scary after all.

They must be trying to up their sales in San Francisco. :scrutiny:

Kind of interesting... but I don't want one near me.

You know, I'm as much a homophobe as the next guy, but if we could get some of those militant gay folks to become militant gay gun folks, we would have made ourselves a major ally. They have experience bringing topics that spookify lots of folks out in the open, and largely getting their way. I mean, would you want to be the politician that told the armed gay community that they couldn't have their guns? Maybe Sig is more of a gun-rights company than we all thought.
