He can base a defense upon the Second Amendment protected Right to Keep and Bear Arms. He can claim that the Second Amendment protected(protects) his right to go out and buy arms, thereby claiming that any law he might have broken is unconstitutional. Dragging this SOB into court might be a blessing in disguise.

Irony knows no bounds.

Trouble is, this might just be why he won't be charged, or why any civil suits brought against him will be quashed.

We shall wait and see. They either go down in flames "for the cause", or the infringements upon our rights wither and die.

Why is that, Henry? Have you done something to harm someone's rights? Have you not done something to unfetter those rights?

Uh, no........ The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Bloomberg and his minions represent the gumm't. Well, NYC's gumm't, anywho. The 2nd doesn't apply to them! :p

Outside New York City, Bloomberg is one of you and me. He did his straw purchases outside his political jurisdiction. Prohibiting a "Straw Purchase" infringes the right, therefore, it would also be unconstitutional law.

A point of clarity: Though the Second Amendment protects our Right to Keep and Bear Arms, it prohibits government to infringe the right, therefore, it applies to government. It doesn't prohibit us, it prohibits government.

Judge: Mayor Bloomberg this court finds you guilty of attemping to purchase firearms by the means of a straw purchase. Since I realize you were doing it to promote the safety and welfare of the chilrenz, I impose 40 hours of community service to be performed while on duty as mayor. Furthermore, your record will be expunged after 90 days of unsupervised probation.

By "in trouble", I mean the violations of the unconstitutional law prohibiting straw purchases, and possibly interfering with federal investigations where others(the dealers) may have been complicit in violating the unconstitutional law against straw purchases before Bloomberg stepped in. There is more, too.

Yeah, I know what you are saying Woody, but I seriously doubt if there would be any repercussions towards him regardless of whether or not he is found guilty.:(
