I had a thread here awhile back to help me decide on a 308 rifle.

I decided on a BLR. I have a credit with buds so I ordered one, turns out they sold it. They still have the takedown one, but never having a takedown rifle I am hesitant.

Is this a weaker style? my rifle has to be tough. Should I wait for one to come in or just buy the takedown?( I've been lusting for awhile so I'm jonesing to try out a new caliber!) thanks

Buy the take down! I always wanted one, but they're more expensive. What deal are you getting? Maybe I'll take it...

No, about your concern over strength and reliability, DO NOT WORRY. The BLR is a well made gun and I think you can trust Browning (now under FN mgt) on this one. Here are a couple of pics. The quality of construction of the joint is fairly evident, as long as they heat-treat the steel properly to harden it. The bolt rotatably locks into the receiver-end of the barrel - the joint does not take the force of the propellant explosion.

The take-down style means a high power, rapid-fire long gun can be transported in a gym bag. Not bad.
