My new TC 308 arrived today and I want to mount a scope on it to test it's accuracy. Then I'm planning on pulling it off afterwards.

I usually use blue lock tite on my scope screws, but I've never removed them. I know with the red lock tite you have to heat it first.

Sould I use the blue in a temporary situation? And if I do, will I end up stripping the star lands of the screw when I remove them? I'm planning on putting about 20 rounds through it with the scope mounted.

Thanks,
Bit

None needed for 20 rounds.
I make it a habit to use "blue" on mounts now days, but have a '06 I scoped over 25 years ago that has no goo of any kind on the mount or ring screws and it has never moved.
I did have a mount come loose after several thousand miles riding upside down in a pickup window rack, but that has been the only one i have ever had come loose.

Let us all know how you like that new TC after you put a few through it.

Sweet Eli. That's what I thought. I'll post the results of this TC after a range trip Saturday. I'm curious how accurate this rifle is. I'm so used to a 700 pss that will drive tacks, but it's too heavy to take to the field.

Can't wait, 24" barrell and the trigger is sooooo sweet. Company I bought it from did a trigger hone for 40 bucks. Feels better than my ar with a $200 trigger.

Thanks Everyone!

Actually Loctite makes a product for scopes and instruments which use small screws. It's #222 and is easier to remove the screws than with the blue but holds well enough when I've used it. I seem to remember it was called green Loctite, but it could be an age-fart...
