Blunderbuss instead of SB?

I know some guys go the SBS route, but then it occurred to me -- why not go with a big long permanently-attached flash suppressor if all you want to do is open up the patten?

Like what some do with the AR15s

No doubt a SB would be handier, but $200 could be spent on ammo. :D I'd be interested to see the pattern of a Saiga12 with a 10" barrel and 8.25" flash hider.
 
I'll take the short barrel, they're significantly handier and unless they're ridiculously short they seem pattern about the same as a regular length barrel with the same internal profile.

This has been my experience. The pattern size isn't affected by barrel length, although the velocity is. So you get a similar pattern at less velocity with more recoil from a smaller package. Adding an attachment to make it legal would mean a similar pattern with less velocity, similar recoil from a larger package.
