Bolt Action Bug-Home Rifles

Just curious how much does the bayonet change your POI if you remove it?
I have never shot either rifle with bayonet attached (FR8) or folded out/extended. (M44) At short range I don't think the POI change would be meaningful. For longer range I wouldn't be using the bayonet. ?

Truth. But if traffic comes to a long-term stand-still I'll want the option of walking home. But it may be 20 miles or so. The car may be stuck in traffic, but not I. If there's a major power outage, the hotel may not be doing business. !!!
Big box stores have bicycles, but they will be magnets for all sorts of shenanigans once it drops in the pot. Pawn shops will be targeted too, but bikes probably aren't the first thing bandits will grab.

Obtaining a bike, motorized or not, will be high on my list of priorities and a slung rifle on a bike is pretty awkward- though a folding/takedown option is always possible.

Honda is offering an E-bike with 10-12 miles of range that weighs 40lb and folds into the size of a briefcase. Its pretty tempting. Wouldn't get me all the way home on a single charge, but I'd much rather walk 10 than 20. The first 10 are the most urban/dangerous too....

Also, you don't need a walking-home rifle if you can't walk home.
A pair of good boots is legal to keep in your trunk in all 50, just sayin'.
Ha ha...!! Yes, then you need a "stay away from me rifle" if you can't walk home. Yeah, that might suck if one was wearing funky shoes. I'm usually wearing something that are good for some distance. But good point...hadn't thunk of that.

Back in my late 20s and early 30s, I used to sling my Marlin 39AS on my back while pedaling my "mountain" bike to the local sand quarry or other off road destination.

The real trouble of slinging a bare rifle on a bicycle is that everyone can see it.

Here is the story on how i ended up with the RAR. I wanted a CZ 527. They stopped making them then. A howa was my second choice. Sportsmans had a RAR in stock. So i bought it. At the time 7.62x39 was hard to find. Im very happy with my RAR. Later came along my AR'S in 7.62x39. My latest was my SKS.

Most of the hotels I stay in for work are a family operated chain hotels and they do take cash if the credit card network is down. 🙃

As usual, if I'm armed then no one should know it until I need to draw.
That's a tough decision and I see it both ways. In the situation I envision, I'm not worried about being obviously (rifle) armed. Just let me pass and leave me alone. I can't help thinking that if it looks like I'm not armed, that might encourage a confrontation. ? But that's another debate and a lot of different ways to look at it.

It would be the opposite. "Bad guys" would slither out of the woodwork to outnumber you and take your exposed rifle. With a concealed firearm, you blend in with the masses and are less of an obvious target.

That’s a lot of weight to carry for minimal functionality.

A Ruger PC9 can be broken down into two parts and easily fits in a backpack. So can an AR15. Also the Sub2000 and Smith FPC also fold and are similar.

9mm carbine hits are easy to 150 yards. And 9mm is lighter to carry and you can carry a lot more than rifle rounds.

I bet Kyle Rittenhouse is glad he didn't have a bolt action with 5 round stripper clips. Just sayin. Cool rifles!
Well, if I was on my way to a BLM riot, I'd take something a bit different. :) I'm not envisioning all out chaos and mobs, total insanity, and people running around taking pot shots at anything that moves, just some chaos and some people taking advantage of the situation.

Oh yeah, many different possibilities, scenarios, etc. But I wouldn't say "would be" but rather "could be".

Oh yes, I often go that route. Just playing with the rifles. Making them useful. Yes, a PCC paired with a good full sized 9mm pistol (not some cute little EDC thing) is a great concept. You can carry much ammo, and load them both out of the same feed bag. I do have that set-up.
