Book cut-out hiding spot

Anyone know where to get a book cutout that is large enough for a big gun with light?

I have found books around 7"x4", but need something more like 9"x7". I plan to place a Glock 35, with M3 (or similar) light.
 
Could try Barnes and Noble and cut it out yourself. Then if you use ruber cement on the edge of the pages while closed they will stay solid. That is what I have done only I happen to come upon a bood just right at a garage sale.

As for an already cut out one, I don't know. Sorry.

Look for "diversion safe" on Yahoo! or Google. Lots of stuff out there just not sure if there is anything big enough. Another thing to look for is a fake book. I saw one at one of those factory seconds stores like Marshalls or Stein Mart that looked like an old, big, book (Moby Dick, I think) but was really just a box. Should of bought it but it was about $30.

Keep in mind though that a book hiding place will only foil casual thieves. Leo's who may have occassion to search will open all books. Leastwise they did mine. They can still be foiled too, but it takes more thought and preperation to throw them off. Cops are lazy but not too lazy to open books. (No offense to you LEO's, just generally.)

Make your own and do not tell anyone.
Why?

Because a Company named Fort Knox made various "false books" to hide valuables in. We kept a few around- WE DID NOT Advertise or put on display. We would take a customer to the back and show/suggest. If the purchase was large enough we gave them one. Mum's the word and nobody knew.

Especially good for some whom went to the gym or attended college and needed a secure place for stuff.

So some big dummy on the other side of town decides to carry them too...he displays and advertises. GREAT. Granted various sizes and titles. Fake "oil cans" "VHS" ...you name it.

We had a rash of cars getting busted into, especially if a student put "books" in the trunk. Destroyed one car's truck because the owner put a "oil in the trunk" the ganbanger was caught ...yep it was oil not a hidey thingy.Had a rash of break -ins...oh but the vandalism went nuts. "Fake outlets"....besides all the other stuff being destroyed and taken...any and everything was suspect. Everyone blabbed and the BGs already knew about these...dang wanna-be BGs and such really made the sales and security effect go right down the tubes.

I've just seen too many people blab, even among family and "friends"...then blab falls on a set of dishonest ears. I know one lady whom will never again leave her platinum 13 ct dia ring or Platinum 6 ct tw dia braclet in a box of cereal in the cupboard again...came home to find cereal (s) boxes emptied on table...goodies were missing. She only told her family and friends though.

I take precautions, my own family is not privy to. I die -someone else has the info, my family is not able to keep secrets. They have gotten me into serious situations.
 
good question. I made the mistake of showing my wife where I hid some extra "car repairs cash"...damn if that pile didn't start to dwindle. I am looking for another decent hiding spot.

anybody have a suggestions?
 
Jmurman, did you try pulling out the bottom drawer in your dresser and taping an envelope full of 20s to the front of the dresser?

When I lived in two major anti-gun cities where eeeevil guns were illegal, I kept one of my pistols in a cut out book. Did it myself with an exacto knife. Bought the book, a biolgraphy of Nixon, at a Goodwill for a buck.
 
You need to pay attention to which shelf you put it in.

There in the middle of the night while you are on vacation, the bad guy is going through your bookshelf...

Hmmmm. Lyman Reloading 48th ed., Tactical 1911, Tactical Glock, "this guy sounds like a gun nut", Way of the Rifle, Moby Dick, LFI-1, wait minute, Moby Dick? WooHooo! Paydirt.

Old law school books are good. They update the editions quick enough and the old ones can be had rather cheap ($1-$2).
