I am a much better shot than I am a firearm maintainer - honestly, my father's always volunteered to do the cleaning, I just pick them up when he's done or leave them in his safe until the next range trip.
Now that I'm shooting about twice as often as he does, and want to pick up a few older mil-surp rifles to refinish and work on, I probably ought to start doing it myself. However, my knowledge of handgun maintenance is, uh, weak. Aside from the instruction manuals, are there any recommended books out there on general procedures and materials?
One I'm looking at is Larry Lyon's The Gun Owner's Handbook. But being something of an obsessive information junkie, I like to have multiple references around.
Thanks,
Matt
