Boomyberg at it again

Our petition — which you can sign by going to DemandaPlan.org — urges the President and Congress to require background checks for every gun sale, ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines and make gun trafficking a federal crime.

Isn't gun trafficking already a federal crime? Don't we have a whole federal agency tasked to enforce those laws (and ever so occasionally concern themselves with booze and cigarettes), except when they are violating them themselves?

Anybody know where he's pulling his 80% of gun owners support reasonable limitations figure out of the air?

I tell you, then then Art would send me a NOT polite reminder of what his grandmother considers polite language, and then we would have the 60 words that add no additional meaning (but do express emotional subtext) talk again....

In the Airborne (paratroopers) community, we called it the 4th point of contact...

but, yeah, thin air, is pretty much it, but, how are all those gun laws working for NY NY, I mean NO BODY NEEDS A GUN THERE
(gawker published a list/map of all the NY NY pistol permits...)

Yeah -- the orifice you're referencing is where I was guessing it's coming from as well.

On an unrelated note, I wonder what happens to Mayors Against Illegal Guns once Bloomberg is no longer a mayor next January? Will he get kicked out of his own organization? Amend their bylaws to allow himself to be appointed Maximum Leader of MAIG even without an elected office to his name? Or maybe he'll just buy some small town in New England wholesale and have himself declared Mayor for Life?

But we cannot solve the problem of gun violence by ourselves. About 85% of all guns used in New York City crimes come from out of state, largely from states with very lax gun laws. This is a national problem that requires national leadership from our elected representatives in Washington. I have spoken with both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, and I am hopeful that they will take concrete action this week.

even assuming this is true......and even if guns are outright banned throughout the country......whats preventing drug cartels from also turning into weapons cartels?

the criminals wont get their guns from STATES with lax gun laws....theyll get them from COUNTRIES who arent willing to enforce theirs.

If we are serious about protecting lives, we have to get serious about enforcing our laws. It’s not enough to punish crime; our goal should be to prevent it.

apparently Bloomy thinks the technology from The Minority Report actually exists.....

the more this man talks, the more he seems like a confused old man slowly loosing grasp with reality

Shoot, they will do what they have been doing, buying them WHOLESALE on the international market

Finding out when the local Mexican troops are getting their next shipment of US funded arms, and simply show up and buy the entire unit (you are working for us now)

or pay some truckers to loose a few crates in transit....

Cartels use carrot and stick: bribes and video of what they do to those who cross them: bribe + threat = perfect extortion.

Bloomberg is theater. Like when the Tennessee tourist with a carry permit who offered to check her handgun with security at a building with a prominent no guns sign was arrested: according to Bloomberg, in a news conference before the potential jury pool, her real problem was not the three years for felonious possession of a handgun, her real problem was the cocaine they found in her purse (which turned out to be Goody's headache powders).

No place in America is safe from dangerous people armed with guns. Not elementary schools or universities. Not playgrounds or churches. Not malls or movie theaters.
[strike]Not unless Washington acts — now.[/strike] no matter what Washington does

There. Now it's a true statement.

Right.

Prohibition worked so well at elimination consumption of alcohol.

The war on drugs has done such a good job of eliminating illegal drug use.

Banning all firearms will only make a new business for the mob and cartels to get into.

This is something called "Gun tunneling." Which does happen although nowhere near 85% like Bloomberg suggests. It is probably the main reason why NYC hates CCW from any other place.

Actually, I think he's citing an old USA Today editorial poll ('95? '96?) that was so generally worded that just about anyone who didn't own a gun or know anything about any gun control laws would vote "yes" for general, unspecified "reasonable restrictions."

Why change the names of people like Bloomberg? I have seen it with Obama as well and I just don't understand the need to give these guys cutsey nicknames. It must be a pet peeve that I did not know that I had. Name calling is not an effective way to counter those who are against gun owners (imo).

Ok, so Mr.
"I want more 'gun control'"
has sent NY NY COPS and investigators to OTHER STATES to buy guns,
(please note, this would be him engaging in arms trafficking, straw purchases... etc. usually well covered and yet, neither him, nor the people that he used to engage in this illegal activities have been prosecuted)

So, I'll listen to the blathering idiot (for whom I hold in contempt as appropriate for a criminal) after he hands himself in to be tried for the various crimes that he has engaged in.

Bloomberg: protecting the citizens of NY from high-capacity sodas, and now the nation from high-capacity firearms.
