I shoot revolvers a fair amount, and am pretty OCD about cleaning them after a range session. However, I cannot seem to find a bore brush that lasts more than one or two cleaning session before it begins coming apart. I realize that cleaning all of the chambers and the bore puts quite a bit of use on a brush, but is there a bore brush that is not crazy expensive that will last a little bit longer?

Bronze brushes, I assume? What chemicals do you use? If your cleaning solution removes copper, it'll attack a bronze brush as eagerly as it does bore fouling. I usually brush the bore dry, then use the chemical. Works for me....

I just run the brush through a few times and let the cleaner soak. When done rinse the brushes with oil

I do the chore boy copper trick. My brushes look ratty, but I just wrap a small section of the chore boy around it and handle business. It cleans out leading really well. Make sure they are the 100% copper ones though, not the copper coated.

??? What brand of bore brush?
What caliber? Rifle or Pistol? Do you have the correct size??

I usually use a plastic bristle brush. The only time I use any sort of metal is when I need to get rid of some lead, then it’s just one or two strokes of a worn brush with chore boy wrapped around it.

If you’re having to scrub lead out all of the time, maybe look at your load or the projectile you’re using.
