Bore Lights - Green & Red Filters

Over the years I've had a number of bore lights. They've always come with a green and a red filter.

For the life of me I just cannot figure out what the filters are for.

I cannot see any difference in the bore between white, green and red light except white makes the bore much more visible.

So...
Just what the heck are those green and red filters for anyway?

Inquiring minds want to know.

fwiw, the human eye can discern more shades of green than any other color.

I promise that if I ever get a gun for Christmas that I will absolutely check the bore with the red and green filter. But I've never gotten a firearm for Christmas in all of my 52 years on earth. There's still time though - still time.
