Bore snake worth the $ ?

For me, there use depends upon whether the gun in question metal fouls or not. Those that do get cleaned the traditional way. Those that don't - both long guns and handguns - get cleaned with the Boresnake. As I have been finding fewer and fewer excuses to put up with guns that metal foul, I have been trading them off, and the Boresnakes are becoming more central to my cleaning routine.

I own and use them.

I also use rod with brush/patches.

I saw an ad for their new "viper bore snake" that has THREE internal brushes. I wonder on the cost of this new snake and is it worth it?

They can get pretty dirt and should be washed regularly. I put mine in a jar filled with detergent and water and let them sit for a day or so. Then I shake the hell out of the jar and rinse the snakes completely.

I keep 200-300rds of ammo in my range bag in my truck. If i decide to take a quick trip to the range on my lunch break and fire off 150-200 or so rounds, i just wipe my gun off after and run the snake through.

i do this on my M&P 40c and do a real cleaning every 500-700rds.... so every 3-5 trips. But the bore snake does a great job if you use it what it is intended for.

its amazing for my .22's and shotguns!... I also find it very useful when i break in a new rifle and i run it through every round fired.

Its $17 opposed to 14 for a regular bore snake at my local stores (academy, bass pro, dicks, and small mom and pop's).

When my current round of bore snakes wear out or if i just have the itch to buy something, Im gonna get the new Viper bore snakes.

I might pack one in a range bag or field kit,but a serious cleaning would be done with other tools when I got home.
+1, bore snakes are great for a quick clean up when done at the range, but the real cleaning is done with brushes and patches.

Yes they are worth buying. Good for quick cleaning, not too thorough, but quick ie range, field, etc. I use them alot for my shotguns and .22lr. Sometimes at the range for centerfires but those get a thorough cleaning at home each time.
