I've tried more than a few bore cleaners and BTE is the way to go. The high quality bore cleners I've used Hoppes, Butch's Bore shine, Gun Slick foaming bore cleaner. Clean your fire arm with whichever cleaner you use and then try BTE then see what happens. I cleaned several brand new firearms for years with Butchs bore shine, Gun Slick foaming bore cleaner and Hoppes and tried BTE after reading about it on another forum. It took nearly 50 patches to remove what was apparently years of fouling from one of my older firearms. You can use it in the house without smelling up the place too.
Really good product just follow the instructions. If you don't like brushes you can just run 3or 4 patches every 10 minutes works great. Don't use bronze or copper brushes or brass jags.
