Just bought a 28-2 today for 289 dollars in darn decent shape, here I was thinking all the deals to be had in Ca. were gone.... Guess people need Christmas money, all to MY advantage :) Handled the gun for maybe 2-3 minutes while checking it out, didn't have to think long to make that decision. This one's a 6inch barrel which will match nicely with my 38/44 Outdoorsman. My 27-2 is a 4inch so a 357Mag in both lengths will serve me well.

Prefix is "S" and number is 2643xx.

I'm glad I passed up the model 57 that was in another shop's consignment case with less than perfect bluing and wanting 450 dollars for it. Was not a big fan of how buggered up the bluing was and I didn't have any desire for a magnaported firearm.

Hope a few more N-frame gems pop up in the next 14 or so business days of christmas.

Your Christmas present was made in 1966 - a very good year. Who knows, good luck may come in pairs. I wish you luck.

Sweet...

I like them old. Most recent production revolver is a 29-3 that is in clear need of a timing job, sad that it came from the factory in such sad shape.

Now if I could just ditch the 29-3 and replace it with a nice old 29-2.

Things left on the list, a model 24, model 57, model 25 in 45ACP.

I also need to get a set of wood grips for this 28. I hate rubber grips, think I may actually order off some Nill grips for Christmas if I could just communicate with them over the phone.... I'll see if I can't get my friend who speaks german to get his butt over to my house and help me out some day.

where in Ca was this and where is that 57 ?

That '66 28 would go nicely with my 4 inch 28, also from 66 that came with the nicest diamond targets .. also got the box. dont have serial at work so couldnt tell you how close they are..
In the last week I have added (2) 24-3 3 inchers and a nickel 5 inch HD from '56 with original grips...
i think people are hard up for xmas cash.... their hard luck is my good fortune!

That`s a pretty good deal for an S prefix considering what I`ve heard of Kali prices.:what:

This is the Kern County area... the magnaported 57 sold the other day, I call the shops around here on an average of once every 2 weeks or atleast drop by while I'm out and about.

About 6 months back I almost bought a model 57, no dash, for 650 bucks that was with out a doubt 100% unfired. 4inch model 57 with not a scratch on it. One of those guns you feel bad about opening the cylinder on.

I let it go because I was looking for a shooter but more specifically I would have felt like a total tool if I paid 650 for the Model 57 only to turn around and have a model 24 or 25 pop up weeks later for something like 400.

Part of the cash I used today on the 28-2 is left over from my decision not to purchase that model 57 a few months back.

Sorry to say, long since gone. Last I saw of that gun was 6 months ago and it was gone 2 months later when I was back in the area.

I still kinda pester the gunshop from time to time to have them see if the original owner is interested in selling any of his other firearms.
