Borrowing Reloading Tools

I have neighbors using some of my equipment but it does not leave my shop. In most all cases they end up buying their own. But due to the cost of the Giraud annealer they just bring there brass over. I let them load the brass and I start and set the flame length. They they just watch it run till they finish. In most cases they are doing < 100 cases so it does not take long. Every now and then they will bring there brass over to trim if they have a bunch to do. Since the Trim-it II is setup in the drill press, faster than doing it by hand.

Sometimes it is tempting to loan out a tool to encourage a new handloader. I don't loan anything, if I have an extra I will give it as a gift but no loans. If the individual wants to come over and use something at my place then ok.

No one showered me with tools when I started and I found the strength to continue on in this activity. I think if your going to do this then do it. Our hobby is actually a club. It is a club that has a cost of admission. It took me years to dig up the actual desire to join the club.

My Dad was a handloader and true I have some of his stuff. Not a lot though. What I learned from him wasn't technique, rather it was the desire to do it my way. That is what handloading is in my opinion, ammo our way.

When I purchase dies and shell plates for a new to me caliber I also get the respective case gage. Every single round I make gets stuffed into a gage. I have had 1 FTF in the last 25,000 rounds. About 1 or 2 rounds out of every 100 I make get rejected.

Did it twice....yea yea fooled me twice. My powder measure came back with a broken top and my sizer came back with a broken de-capping pin. It's funny that guy bought the same gear but didn't feel a need to replace what he broke so he and I do not really hang anymore. The sad part is the cost of both is trivial, it's more of a respect thing.
