"Bosinian Military" 5.56/.223 AK magazines?

Guess I'll have to if no one here has tried them. 5.56 AKs aren't all that common and popularity is hindered by the incompatibility of the Chinese and "Circle 10/ Weigar" mags that many of the converted Saiga .223 taking Galil mags. The 5.56 AK I shoot the most is a Saiga conversion with a mag-well adapter that takes standard AR-15 mags.

Interesting. Before clicking I thought misprinted 5.45 magazines to work in the AK-74. But clearly not. I see 5.56 AK mags from Promag going about $10-15 each from a few different vendors so 17 isn't too bad of a deal. Even just to try them out.

Let us know if they work.

A co-worker just picked up a SAR3 and is looking for some good mags.

Will do.

I purchased them earlier today while reading this thread and CDNN has already emailed me with a tracking number - fast shipping counts for something no doubt! When I bought my SAR3 in the mid-2000s it came with a couple of a not so great functioning steel mags. At some points I picked up a couple of pmags that seemed to function most of the time. Hopefully these lock up tight and at 100%, time will tell.

They look like the ones that went in the chinese 223 AK's. That said, I have never heard of 223 AK's being used anywhere, outside of the ones imported into the US in the 80's for the civilian market. Doesn't really make sense in a country/continent awash with 7.62 x 39 and 5.45 ammunition and weapons, and such a weapon isn't mentioned in wikipedia as being issued in B-H. Could they be for a Galil?

So they arrived at the end of this past week but I didn't have a chance to try them out until today. You can see the packaging and branding on it. "AC Unity AC AK556 30 Round Window Magazine" marked as for: AK101, AK102, AK108, M-74NB, M85... IMG_0212.jpg IMG_0211.jpg

Here are some close ups of the mag. You can see the metal reinforcements that were molded into it on the front and rear lugs. It also comes with an anti-tilt follower. Floorplate and spine also pictured for everyone's reference. IMG_0217.jpg IMG_0213.jpg IMG_0214.jpg IMG_0215.jpg IMG_0216.jpg IMG_0218.jpg IMG_0219.jpg

Here are some pictures of them partially loaded to show how clear the windows are. They loaded extremely smoothly and were expectedly stiffer from rounds 25ish on to 30, but no problems squeezing them in. IMG_0221.jpg IMG_0220.jpg

Here is the promag I was using that functioned fine and the original steel mag that came with the 2006 era WASR-3. I've included pictures of the original steel mag's lugs, spine, floorplate, and follower for reference. IMG_0222.jpg IMG_0223.jpg IMG_0224.jpg IMG_0228.jpg IMG_0225.jpg IMG_0226.jpg IMG_0227.jpg

Lastly, here are comparison pictures of the original steel mag to the CDNN AC Unity mag along with the new mags seated in the rifle. IMG_0231.jpg IMG_0232.jpg IMG_0230.jpg IMG_0229.jpg

As you can see they are slightly wider and longer than the factory mag, though they have the same curvature to them. They have no forward and rear wobble and there is some left to right wobble, though that is due to the drunken monkey's of CAI's employ at the time that cut out the mag well to make it double stack.

The magazines functioned flawlessly loaded to 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, and 5 rounds. All in all they cost me $43.97 broken down to $33.98 for the magazines and $9.99 shipping/handling. They seem like a great option for anyone looking for elusive 5.56 AK mags.

Thanks for the update.

Have you got a chance to fire any live rounds?

Cycle dummy rounds?

Good deal, thanks.

Glad they worked well for you and I'll pass it on to my co-worker.

In reference to the OP's post, I do have a Chinese AK in 5.56 also I can test these in tonight to see if they fit or not.

I also tested these in my Norinco 5.56 AK yesterday. They fit and ran with no problem. I'm pleased someone finally made an AK 5.56 mag that works!

I have a Zastava M90 coming next week. I'll have to try these.

ETA: Out of stock. I guess I won't be trying them yet.
