Where did you get the idea you can't hunt in the SE with a 7mm mag. Do you have powerlines , hay fields, farm fields, crops. Still look'n for some where to use it justify your new toy. You may find it's your number 1 gun but first. Gaet some ammo, clean it well. Now got to the range and see what it likes. Set your scope for a 300 yard zero and you will be around 3" high at hundred yards 2.25 at 200 and 6.5 low at 400. Do try hornady's superformance ammo or some of the old heavy mag loads in the 139gr sst too. I have used a 7 rem mag as my primary goto for the last 18 years or so. My 308 does not get near the use it should but...Killed deer at 20 feet out 400yards. I have a friend thats now gone but he killed several elk and moose with his 7 rem mag useing Nosler partitions and trophy bonded 160gr. One elk was so for off and a real lucky shot that the bullet was still in the heart. Some good balistic guys can make a good guess at yardage. This was at 12000 feet. He also killed hundreds of deer in his life with his 7 rem mag. mostly FL and AL deer.
