Been reloading on my RockChucker for 3.5 years and never thought I'd have a a Dillon as they're a bit pricey up front. However, I sold a pistol to a buddy and that'll fund my Dillon. I ordered it today with .223 Rem kit, the strong mount, bullet tray, extra bin and mount for empty and finished cartridges, the roller aluminum handle, the tool mount, and the cover. I'm so excited to get this set up and get rocking on AR food.

When funds don't allow a new one, think 2nd hand.

Back in 2010 I bought a new in the box 1993 model RL550b.
Even if it's been used a bunch, Dillon will refurbish it.
All you gotta do is send it in, they'll bring it up to new spec at no charge.

UKWildcatFan - congrats on the new 550, I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

Congrats on buying yourself a great press. It will make loading alot easier.

After you go into shock from seeing what a quality piece of loading equipment looks like, all of your stuff will be Dillon.

I've found that a used dillon cost almost as much as a new one. So, there's no deals on a dillon, or much of any other reloading stuff for that matter.

Yea I rolled my eyes everytime somebody talked up their bluepress for 10 years.. Untill I bought one in January. I see what they were talking about.

I used gray, green, and red before I got a blue. I must be Technicolor™, because they all function they way they're supposed to.....

Gray, green and red... Im assuming they were single stage presses? It would be a rare day a single stage dosent funtion the way its supposed to wouldnt it?

No I haven't read any reviews on single stage presses. Die screws in. Ram goes up and down... That's about it isn't it?

The gray was a Lyman Spar-T turret. The green is the ubiquitous Rock Chucker. The red(s) were a couple of Lee Pro 1000s that I loaded pistol ammo on for 15 years. Yeah, I've read a lot of threads that say the Lees don't work, but nobody must have told mine. I loaded a heck of a lot of ammo on them over the years, and they were still working when I sold them. The reason I bought the blue (650) was so I could load rifle progressively, and didn't see any sense in having all those presses around. The 650 is a great machine, no question, but I'm just sayin'.

Enjoy your new press when it shows up.

BTW, it is possible to look into every case to check the powder with the 550b. For most pistol rounds, when you get into the rhythm of glancing at the mirror to check the powder before setting a bullet in places, it hardly slows you down at all. It even works with 223.

Sadly I found this to be pretty true on the Dillon presses anyway. Been looking pretty hard for a few weeks now.
