I just purchased a Ruger LC9s, great pistol BTW. They got it right with the trigger pull. Fantastically accurate. Thinking I wanted a little something more, I decided to purchase the lasermax laser for it.

The fit was perfect, and after a small adjustment, it was perfectly aligned with my sights. What I didn't like was in order to activate it, the switch was all the way up front. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get my finger to reach the switch. I think even Rubber Man would have difficulty stretching his finger far enough out to activate the laser.

The idea is the laser needs to be active the instant the gun is removed from the holster. There can be no fumbling around to turn the thing on, which one would have to do in order to activate this particular model.

Next day I returned the laser. For me, in this application on the LC9s, I found it too impracticable to work. It just wasn't a viable solution. I am now going to forgo the laser and use the pistol as I use all my others, with iron sights.

YMMV of course and I'd like to hear what you have to say if you have one on an LC9. Not a crimson trace, but a lasermax.

Thanks guys.....

For rail mounted or lasers that sit a bit farther forward, an option is to activate the laser using the thumb of your support hand if you shoot "thumbs forward."

Crimson Trace or it don't go on my gun.

I tried the Lasermax stuff years ago and found out the same thing you did.

CT turns on when you grip the gun.
And turns off when you put it back in the holster.

That works way better for me.

As far as red lasers work for me.
Which isn't very good.

They ain't all the advertisement crack them up to be outside in daylight, in the green dark woods!

OK in total darkness.
But if it's that dark, you can't see what you are shooting anyway.

A weapon light or TAC light is a much better option for me.

At SD range, you put a weapon light COM on a BG and squeeze, you are going to hit COM where the bright light beam was.

Which is why my primary carry has a Viridian C5L. Light and laser. Not sure yet if I am going to put a laser on my BUG.

I've found rail mounted lasers are good training tools for trigger control, but only CT grips that activate when you grip the gun to be practicle in a defense situation, and then only of limited use, as rcmodel ponted out.

Iron sights and a light seem more beneficial.
