Bought a new 870

Just kidding! I have it on layaway for tomorrow. It's a Remington 870 Magnum, parkerized finish, 18" barrel, 2 3/4" or 3" 12 gauge shells, I believe 8 round tube. It was $299, so let me know if I'm getting ripped off. Can anyone reccomend a good universal flashlight mount?

PS. It's for HD and hopefullly 3-gun competitions.

No, that's a fair price. If it's an 870 then it's most likely 6+1.

It looks like you still have a chance to consider all options, so I'll just let you know that Winchester's 1300 Defender is 7+1 in the same length, and the tube doesn't extend past the barrel...if that's a big deal to you. The 870 won't let you down, though.

It's definately gonna get used. I would like to get into 3-gun competitions but I don't know of any around WI. For now just going to annihalate paper with it

870 express? I picked up the same thing with a 26" barrel on sale for $268. Still it's a lot of gun for under $300 no matter which way you look at it, I'd have gladly paid $30 more.

870 Express Magnum, it is 6+1 which is 2 more than my 20g express, and 20g has 26".

If that's it, and you bought it NIB (new in box) then you didn't get ripped off. It's a good basic gun, read the owners manual, field strip it and clean it well (especially the bore and chamber) and then put it to work.

As to flashlight mounts, I use the Streamlight accessory rails by preference, and mount either a Streamlight M3 or an Ombu Z-5 on them.
