I'm a 1911 newbie - this is only my second one, and my first Norinco. I shot 100 rounds through it today and the gun seemed fine - cycling and ejection was consistent and reliable. Field-stripped it afterwards, and it doesn't seem like there's excessive wear on the barrel lugs, which I read was something to look for.

Is there anything else to worry about with these guns? This particular specimen has been lightly customized - barrel might be original, but safety, MSH, and trigger are all visibly modified. Full range report and review tomorrow. :)

I would get a pak of shok buffs. They do smooth out the recoil a bit and they will prevent peening.

I had a Norinco years ago. I was a newbee too. I ran far too many rounds through it without getting a new slide return spring. You can get a pack of them pretty reasonably from wilson or wolfe.
