I found it at a small gun counter in a large family owned hardware store. Supposedly it was a Sig LE buy-back gun.

Looking at the rub points inside, the gun looks like it had very minimal shooting wear. The holster wear is minor too. None of the 5 screws are buggered and the roll pin in the slide looks to have never been removed.

The serial number is on the barrel. The gun states "Made in Germany". The slide is stamped "12-83" towards the end of the barrel, which I suppose is the date. It also has "NW" stamped on the slide all by itself. The other side says "Georgia, UT"

The double action trigger is smooth and the single action trigger is most crisp Sig trigger I have felt. It is also admirably light. Actually the trigger is why I bought the gun. I don't like pistols with a barrel shorter than 4.5, but the trigger on this gun was so sweet I couldn't pass it up.

The gun came with two mags, the original blue plastic box, and a German only owners manual which looks pretty old. The price was $399.99

They were a good deal 2 years ago at AIM for $229. Now though...since SIG has discontinued any support for them...

Nice piece as long as critical non stock springs don;t fail.

Not exactly.
The SIG P6 was the issue pistol of the West German Police.
They moved on a few years ago, and large numbers of surplus guns were imported to the U.S.

I don't believe SIG was involved in it as they were all imported by various firearms importers not including SIG-USA.

Not "the" German Police, specifically the state of Nordhausen Westphalia's police. Capitol is Dusseldorf.

When did Sig quit supporting them? What does this mean, parts, repairs, warranties...?

All of the above.

SIG stopped selling the single-stack P225 in the U.S. some years ago.
Since they no longer sell it, they no longer support it with parts or service.

They never did support the surplus P6 here, which is basically the same gun as the commercial P225..

Anyway, when the P225 parts already in the U.S. are all gone, they are all gone.

Looks like Wolffe has springs for them... recoil, hammer, and magazine.

Nordhausen Westphalia? I was wondering what that NW was - thanks, I appreciate the history lesson. I lived in Germany for a couple - up on the North Sea and then later about half way down near the former east German border. Never got near Dusseldorf.

Man for $229 I would have bought a couple more of them.
