Looking for a .22 LR revolver, leaning toward a Ruger Bearcat so my daughter could learn to shoot it, had second thoughts about the SA only and the small size (the way she outgrows clothes - she is a weed). Also wished for a swing-out cylinder.

I looked at the Taurus 94 - DA/SA with all of the controls of a modern revolver. Pretty heavy hammer and a pretty stout DA pull, but not prohibitive. The SA is crisp and light. We'll... I bought it.

Came home and started researching after-the-fact. Horrific.

Took it to the range today and put 100 rounds through it... And... Guess what?

Not one FTF. Not once did the cylinder lock up. Not once did the ejector lock up and fail to eject. Hmmmmmm... Am I just lucky?

I will absolutely post on this thread if and when it fails - honestly and fairly. On that note... I did "massage" by hand before taking it to the range. I cleaned it thoroughly... I swung out the cylinder and gently closed it back close to 1000 times... I cocked the hammer and pulled the trigger (controlling the hammer with my thumb) approx. 1000 times.... I cycled the ejector function nearly 1000 too.

I cannot wait to shoot the crap out of this gun.

Let me add...

At 10 yards I was shooting 2 1/2 inch groups, low and left of POA. Adjustable rear sight for both windage and elevation... I think I can get it zeroed in.

Did you get a new production 94?

I recently picked up a late 70's vintage 94, haven't had the chance to put more than a few rounds through it yet, but I like it.

Yup, new model

I'll look up the vintage you bought... It's nice to hear somebody likes an experience with Taurus. I had a Titanium Tracker in 357 for about 10 years... Sold it for cash boost a couple of years ago. Never a malfunction, except the sore hand.!

Yeah, Taurus guns have had a rough record, and you will certainly read more negative about them on the web than positive. People simply are less inclined to rave than rant about a product, as disappointment stirs more emotion than simple satisfaction.

That being said, I'm still waiting for the Model 66 I bought in 1987 to fail.

I was eying a 94 in stainless a few weeks back. Looked and felt real nice, but I let it get away. Had one in blued back in the late eighties as a trainer and bedside gun for my then-wife. I let her keep it when we divorced in 1996.

New Model 94

Thanks for the picture! Here is a shot of a young ingenue... 9-shooter!

Just finished 600 DA dry fires using #4, 7/8 inch drywall anchors as snap caps. Trigger is smoothing right out!

@ Clean Harry
I wish now that I had bought the Stainless.
But I have owned mine since the late 80's and it has never FTF or jambed in any way.
Mine is the 9 shot also, and accurat as all get out.
I just love it.

I have a Taurus 990 Tracker 22LR and love it. I polished a lot of contact surfaces (did not file or change any shapes of sear etc).

What I don't like is the heavy trigger which I am working on correcting with Wolf springs. It is my first DA revolver so I can't compare the trigger to anything else.

In Single action it is a dream and on my 2nd day shooting the gun, my first handgun, I was shooting shotgun shells at 10 yards with 90% accuracy (slow fire) which was very pleasing to me.

I have a 3" 94 and found mess'n with model 85 hammer spring and wolff springs the trigger pull can be lowered and still be reliable too. Makes a good training pistol for a 38sp snubby.

Range action

Just put another 100 rounds through the M94. Had one ftf... I believe I failed to seat the round properly. Ejection was a little sticky at cylinder #8... Just a little tap to make it work. Ejector rod wants to come unscrewed every other cylinder, I'm sure if I didn't keep an eye on it it would have caused a little problem. My Smith and Wesson has done the same thing... Drop of LocTite I guess.

Overall, a good performance. Trigger and hammer pulls are noticeably lighter. Oh, I did take a little file to the hammer thumb piece, that sucker was a thumb-eater from the factory!
