Saw this and really liked the grip on it. I have "sort of" been looking for a J-frame and got a decent deal.

Listed for $400. With trading in my PT-145 Mil Pro for $300 I had it out the door for a cool $100. And I get a military rebate of $50 so not too bad really.

The PT-145 was really excess to requirements as I have a DW CBOB and recently picked up a Glock 23. So now I can choose what to carry in the summer. This or my LCP. Or I can carry the poly guns (G23 and LCP) together and the Steel/alloy framed guns (1911 and 642) together.

Now I need to get some Speer GD short barrel and a couple of speed loaders plus a holster for it.

SWEET little revolver and welcome to the S&W Revolver Club. I've got a 642 (that I'm carrying right now) and it is great to have that gun among my carry choices.

The 642 was my first Smith revolver, but - beware - it was not my last.

Enjoy.

Shot it today, but only a few rounds as it started raining/snowing. As expected its a bit snappy but not that bad. A solid grip like on my LCP makes it work just fine. I also found a high grip works best too. I just had some standard ball ammo no +P yet.

But even at 15 yards its quite accurate considering I have not even acclimated to it.

Congrats on your new purchase!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Smith & Wesson. Just the name alone stirs up all types of images and emotions.

I just bought my sixth S&W yesterday! A S&W 460v to be exact.

I have a S&W 442 snubby and it is my best friend; goes everywhere I go.. :D

That gun is ideal for pocket carry and I would advise you to get the Mica Pocket Holster for that gun.. It really is the best quality holster I have seen. The only downside is the guy does take his time getting it for you. If you pester him time to time he does speed up the process a bit.

congrats but i bought my last one years go unless they do away with the internal safety lock

Congrats on the purchase!

+1 on welcome to the round side. (Kendal - I like that!)
My first S&W was a 1966-67 M10-5, my next S&W will me my 6th.

Here's hoping you love yours as well as I love mine. ;)

Congratulations on your purchase! I have its twin :)

When I bought mine, the Talo gripped gun was the same price as the standard version so I got the fancy grips...they are very nice. Easy to conceal and draw. When firing, however, I found the recoil to be a bit snappy so I started looking around for some alternative grips.

I tried the rubber "boot" grips and found they were easy to conceal but also a bit uncomfortable when firing. The best recoil absorber I've found so far is the Pachmyer/Compac. It has more bulk that fills my hand better and absorbs recoil much better than the wood or rubber boot styles. Like with most changes, however, there are compromises. The Compacs are rubber and bigger which make concealment somewhat more difficult and the rubber dragging on clothing a consideration.

Since recoil is not a consideration during a stressful situation, concealment and ease of draw would be your first priority for carry, but switching to the Compacs will give you more comfortable range sessions.

Enjoy!
