Bowie Options

Understood, its job is to look pretty. I'm not going to do anything with it more strenuous than applying cream cheese to a bagel, so no need for top drawer metallurgy. I do hope to someday have an m390 or better blade, but in truth I don't tax the 8cr13mov and D2 that I have.

I’m not concerned with any historical aspect but not opposed. I am currently leaning towards a BK-9.
Ka-Bar and Becker make good quality knives, so if it appeals to you I would not argue against it. My only comment would be that the Becker knives I've handled tend to be heavy for their size, which may be a pro or a con for you.

The "Bowie" style blade is a very common design in combat and hunting knives, so there a many choices you could consider, depending on your budget and tastes.

Well, a BK9 is a great knife, but it ain't remotely a "bowie".
The popular usage and definition of "Bowie" is so vague, I have a hard time agreeing that the BK-9 "ain't remotely a "bowie"" A large bladed knife with a clip point is probably the closest you could get to a generally accepted definition (and the BK-9 certainly qualifies under that definition). Many of the knives you posted are certainly more representative of a traditional "bowie" than the BK-9, but other than the cross guard (which the original knife used by Bowie may or may not have had), there's not much functional different between the BK-9 and many of your examples.
