Boyds stock finally arrived

3 months and 11 days later my featherweight thumbhole stock from Boyds arrived. There was a notice on the website that they were behind so I expected a delay. Didn't know it would take quite that long but oh well.

Overall I'm very pleased with it. It took a little trimming in the cavity for the trigger and in the magazine well but nothing several minutes with a dremmel couldn't fix.

It's very light weight and the barrel is completely free floating. Magazine fits snug but drops easily

I've heard both good and bad things about Boyds, but I am very happy with the only Boyds stock I ever ordered. My wife got me a Savage Axis for my 50th birthday 3 years ago, and I hated the factory plastic stock. Just put a new Nikon on it today. It's also in a Boyds stock, (that was my first mod) and has a custom bolt knob put on the factory handle. It was a good shooter before with the el-cheapo Tasco 3x9 that came with it, and PMC Bronze. Now I'll get to try it with better glass and 168gr Federal GMM.

Space Ghost, did that stock come with the checkering, or did you have that added (or do it yourself)? Beautiful.

I bought an X7 Marlin .308 several years ago, had the black plastic stock, and I put a Boyd's thumbhole stock on it. I love the way it holds, and the free-float fore end actually improved the accuracy over the plastic original. Boyds provides Springfield Armory Inc., the stocks for the M1A, which I have one of.

OP, I like the color combo of your thumbhole stock. Here's mine:

I ordered all the extras. Checkering, black tip and grip cap, white line spacers, shiny finish. Spent like $240 to buy a $99 stock, but I love it. I wanted something like the guns in the shooting catalogs I lusted after in the 70s.

That looks awesome Space Ghost. I considered checkering on mine but decided against it. I regret it now.
