What do you all think of Boyd's thumbhole stocks? I just ordered one for my swede since there's not that many choices

I don't have a thumbhole, but I do have a Prairie Hunter on my Savage 111. EXCELLENT stock for the money. I had to do a good bit of fitting, but it all worked out. Great-looking, and great-feeling stock. I wish I'd gotten the checkering, though. It is a little slick.

I love the one on my Savage MkII with a bull barrel. But they're hard to aim at anything in a tree or up high. Other than that they're great. Unless you're a lefty of course.

I held off thumb hole stocks for a long time, not thinking I'd like them, but after getting one, I changed my mind. I REALLY like thumb hole stocks. You wont be disappointed.

As far as Boyds thumbhole stocks, I own several of them. My Howa 1500 Varminter Supreme .308 and Marlin X7VH .223 required bedding to really make tack drivers out of them. The Marlin responded the best, going from 1.5" groups with the factory stock to 0.8" with the Boyds stock and bedding.

I really like my Marlin 60 wearing a Boyd's Rimfire Varmint Thumbhole stock. The added weight and the way it rides the front rest really helps with accuracy. I get plenty of compliments at the range about how it looks too.

Heck, I can't get Boyd's to respond to a question I sent to them, so I may never know anything about a Boyd's stock!

Boyds can be tough to contact.

I have two, a laminated TH that came on a CZ 452Varmint. Along with a walnut TH that might have been one of the last they made for the Marlin 60. It was a finnish it yourself project.

Thumbhole stocks

Back in 07 I bought a Savage in line muzzleloader.....with their laminated thumbhole stock....this was my first in line ML.....and it will probably be my last. This rifle with Leupold scope / Warne rings & base is awesome out to 200 yds with the right loads.....I have harvested deer with it every year since I bought it.....I really like the thumbhole stock as it really helps me " fit into" the rifle....I also use a sling as I was taught back with the M-14 in the 60's or a support when I can.

I ordered a boyds thumb hole for my 308, looks great! paveqy6u.jpg Putting my bull barrel on it the weekend.

I have one for a mosin nagant. the stock is solid. requires a little bit of fitting but it's a good stock...

Have one on my Savage Mark II FV-SR. Love it, brought the comb up so I could get a decent sight picture.
