2nd Generation Bicentennial Commemorative 3rd Model Dragoon There were 1776 of these made as part of what was called the Armsmear Set. Three drawer cabinet with an SAA, Python and 3rd Model Dragoon and the Colt Book of the Armsmear collection. All with matching serial numbers. The 3rd Model Dragoon had a complete set of 2nd Gen Accessories french fit in the drawer with the revolver.

Might have been.

There was one listed as item # 145470081. Auction ended two days ago with no bids. Opening bid was $650. It didnt have the medalion in the grip though. This was an indivdual pistol that Colts had set aside and since sold. It has a factory letter.

There is another one listed under item number 146618807 that is still active. It has a reserve and buy now of $1099. This one is part of an Armsmear set currently being broken up. The case has a buy now of $475,and the SAA of $1699. Apparently the Python is sold cause it isnt listed anymore.

There is also a one of eleven B engraved Armsmear sets listed with a buy now of $12,500 under item number 145876251.

I've owned the set for several years now. I bought it from the original owner.

I can't imagine someone breaking up a set like this.

It's a beautiful set.

I've been told that the grips were made from a tree that was on the Colt factory property.

Books on the set do not indicate that; but it's a good story.

I managed to pick up the Dragoon and accessory set in a non-Colt case about a year and a half ago from Gunslingers Auctions in CA. Was an online live auction. Got it at a really good price (less than Blue Book for a plain Dragoon). The highly polished blue on barrels and frames of the set really shine. Pictures don't do them justice.

The genuine Colts are eye candy for sure, but for me they are in the wife will kill me if I buy one area.
BTW my 1st motorcycle was a 1953 Truimph Thunderbird. Great fun but that thing hated water a.k.a. Lucas Electrics.

I'm very fortunate not to have the "wife" problem, as evidenced by my three Colt set. Geez, I have one Colt I paid more than 3k.

Hey daveinvegas,

Do you shoot anywhere near by?

I joined the 'Desert Sportsman' Range-Club...but I have not found out about any BP groups or other Revolver or Pistol groups yet.

Hi TomADC,

A five-three Triumph Thunderbird is a very nice 'bike..!

My first (and only 'Limey') was a 1944 'BSA' Model M-20 'Single', 500cc Side-Valve.

Ran splendid, daily use for five or six years, never minded Rain...'Lucas' Electrics of course...'Mag-Dyno'...

Not as fast as yours, but, a good, solid, good-looking, reliable 'bike.

I miss how the Girder Front-End would 'hop' if I kept Traction at all when locking up the binders...

Lol...

Oooooops, sorry...thread-drift...
