Thanks for the update, but I am waiting for the winter holiday sale on the Pietta 1851 steel .36 revolver for less than $200. Current price is $250.

It will happen. It will also complete my Pietta .36 3-gun set so that, by switching barrels, cylinders, and frames, I can create 5 historic replicas (Navy 2nd Model, L&R, S&G, G&G, Navy 3rd Model) and many more fantasy pistols.

My favorite fantasy pistol is the 1851 Navy 2nd Model steel .36 squareback TG with the G&G part octagon/part round barrel and the plain cylinder (a pistol I wish Colt had produced as an 1851 Navy Dragoon .36) which I have.

Still fantasizing about adding a Pietta Dance .44 (which has no rebated cylinder and no step at the water table) to the mix to create a Dance .36. Most likely later on down the line.

I won't have the money until then as I am on SS.

Good things happen to those who wait.

Jim

yep, usually in November/December they put BP stuff on sale also.

I have purchased several guns during that time, not all BP.

I now have 58s and 51s in regular and sheriffs model lengths. While I do prefer the steel, I cut down my last 51 brasser to a snubbie, so this one replaces that one in my zombie kit (just kidding - I know there are no real zombies)

Uberti Walker on sale

Just went to Midways website (midwayusa.com) and found the Uberti Walker on sale for $369.99 plus $11.49 shipping. I've been on Gunbroker.com for months and cannot even find a used Uberti for that price. Yes, I pulled the trigger on that deal!

Cabela's BP Stuff

About 3 weeks ago the Cabela's in Thornton, CO rearranged their black powder section and did away with all of their BP pistols, and left just 3 BP rifles on the rack. They still sell some components, but the selection has been substantially reduced. I can only assume BP stuff was not going out the door fast enough. I hope we're not a dying breed!

I wonder how difficult it would be to remove the 1858 Bison barrel. I have an extra 1858 and have always wanted a steel framed Bison but they are $500.00. If it wouldn't cost much to swap barrels it might be worth it. The reason for steel frame is I would like to use my conversion cylinder in it.

I just bought 10 packages of #11 caps last weekend at 5.99 each and 8 lbs of 3fff 777 at 24.00 each at the Hamburg Pa. Store, and 5 boxes of .490 balls .I was happy

I wouldn't be confident doing it, but it's been done.
I read on a forum that someone put the frame end of a remington in a padded vice and and using a good wrench, unscrewed the barrel. This was with a older model replica

Nothing all that special for most of what they have on price but...

Additional 10% off all ammo & firearms plus free ship $99 min. Use Promo Code STOCKUP16 during checkout. Limited Time Offer. after clicking the "CLICK HERE TO SHOP ALL PRODUCTS THAT APPLY" It would appear that all the black powder pistols and rifles qualify. (including the Buffalo Remington)
