Anti-gun group sues White House

From News Services
Wednesday, December 31, 2008

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence sued the Bush administration Tuesday in hopes of stopping a new policy that would allow people to carry concealed, loaded guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges. An Interior Department spokeswoman refused to comment on the lawsuit, saying the department does not discuss pending litigation.

I am surprised it took them this long.

I am trying to figure out which circuit it is in and what judges will hear it. Really depends on the judge whether or not it has standing unfortunately.

Could this be ''it''?

A case at the federal level on 2A rights?

I wonder if they are willing to go the distance or if this is all posturing?

Experience shows that this is 99% posturing to raise money. Brady's donations have tanked. How do I know? All "charities" have seen their donations crash, with one exception, PRO gun lobbies. Numerous news stories confirm the massive drop off in charitable giving and numerous other stories document the explosion in gun purchases and nra/goa membership.

Brady is doing this in a shameless and dishonest attempt to get their hard core base to write checks. Nothing more. The process for changing the park service regulations was not only painfully slow and excessively legal, but all those processes were extended by some anti self defense scumbags. Brady has not a drop of standing (and they know it), nor do they have a legal leg to stand on (and they know it). This is meant to make the big donors like Oprah (no pun intended) feel good.

I see this lawsuit going nowhere fast. Despite the current political climate packed full of anti's, groups like the Brady Bunch and Ammo Accountability are rapidly losing their footing. Their emotional and logic-lacking arguments keep being shot down by real data. And in the end, they will fail to take away our rights.

I believe that many Americans are finally awake to the importance of the 2nd Amendment. I think it took the threat of the new admin to get us all off our a$$e$ and in into action. I like what I see these days from gun owners. The complacency of yesteryear is long gone... from myself as well.

This is actually already under disscussion. Maybe a little search-fu would cut down the number of multiple threads on the exact same topic, just sayin'

'A dollar short and twelve hours late"

Sorry, Treo. I wondered why no one else did not post it. Guess I ought to visit the Legal forum every once and a while.

BTW, I aint got no search fu skils, but that's another thread.
