I ran across that while trying to find info on the laws about carrying loaded weapons in my vehicle in my home state.

Remind me again guys. When did it become the state's responsibility to protect me or my family from gun violence?

Some of that stuff is just an outright lie. Like this gem: "Mississippi also does not require background checks at gunshows..."

Yes the hell we do!

one good little peice of news out of this... I did find what I was looking for when I stumbled across that waste of bits.

From Mississippi Code of 1972 amended 2005: Section 97-37-01
It shall not be a violation of this section for any person over the age of eighteen (18) years to carry a firearm or deadly weapon concealed in whole or in part within the confines of his own home or his place of business, or any real property associated with his home or business or within any motor vehicle.

What do you know.... I just happen to be 19 years old and have a SA 1911 fully loaded and under the seat of my truck with two more loaded mags behind the seat. And it is not illegal.

an "F" from Brady is an "A+" in my eyes.

Why does that make you sick? I don't think MT has ever scored anything but an F and I couldn't be happier about it. I did a good deal of research with their Brady Grade reports a year or two ago by putting them up against the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports and proving that gun control has absolutely no relation to a state's violent crime or homicide rates. You have to love an organization that will do the majority of the work needed to disprove its entire philosophy. Loud they may be, but smart they are not.

Oh I am happy that Ms has a grade of "F", it just makes me sick when I read all the lies that the Brady campaign spouts.

Any politician that hooks its wagon to the Brady Campaign is doomed to failure.

The Dems are just now "getting it" .

Yeehaw! Florida gets an F+ in the 2005 report card!!!

Wooo Wooo Wooo! Now let's get an F-!!!!

And let's grade states on their gun-related crime next....

I was disappointed

To find out that TN only got a D+, but I have looked at the Brady report card and have already contacted my state reps to help move that to the solid F we Tennesseans really deserve!:D

So if you buy a brick of .22 LR you're half way to jail? HAHA! Brady needs a new hobby.

Using a standard GPA scale (A=5, F=1), I come up with a a GPA of 1.625 for Mississippi or almost a "D". I'd say the Brady Mom March was a little "generous"/"strict" with the grade curve.

BTW, where can I get one of those "rapid fire ammunition magazines". You don't even need a gun for one of those bad boys......:neener: :scrutiny::D  :banghead: :uhoh:

Ohio got a D-. Aww... Shucks.
I've heard that Hoovers are the best at Sucking. Better than Eureka vacs. Maybe Toby Hoovers are too.
And I heard that one time, at band camp, Rosie Craig stuck her flute in her <PRE-EDITED FOR NOT HIGH ROAD COMMENT!!!>

To celebrate, let's all go out and buy high capacity magazines for our weapons!

Woohoo

California got a...nevermind.

This sucks

EDIT: I just noticed how they don't give Washington D.C. a grade. HAHA. Even the Brady Campaign is too scared to rank that city.

brady

I think he means that DC has the most restrictive code out there, thus a high brady grade, but the crime rate is abysmal.

I looked up my own state of VA, only a C-, but some of the language they use is amazing:

... and even forces police to let people carry hidden handguns in public

wow

I still don't know what a rapid fire ammunition magazine is. maybe a periodical?

Oregon

I just read Brady's page on Oregon... I still see no relationship between anything on their website and the real world-- surprise, surprise!

Here is just one of the factors that can keep a state from earning a "high grade":

"SCHOOL ZONES
Is it illegal for CCW permit holders to carry guns into schools? No

Oregon - No state restriction on adults carrying concealed firearms onto school grounds. Parents should know that loaded handguns may be legally brought onto school grounds by people with concealed carry permits."

That, and the simple fact that Oregon has a "shall issue" CCW permit law earns us a "D-" in this catagory. :scrutiny: We will have to work on that one, I guess, because we have had such a large number of shootings at schools by CCW permit holders...

...And by the way, the murder rate in my entire county has been zero for over ten years now, despite all the locals with guns and carry permits. Brady would be the last resource I would look to for information on a good place to live... Anyone know if they have ever given Washington DC an "A" for their outright ban on gun ownership? :D

I would cut Brady a little slack. Wasn't he the secret service guy who was shot while protecting President Reagan during the assasination attempt? It should be obvious why he wants to control guns, he blames his current state of health on a gun. I disagree with Brady, but he doesn't make me "sick". Truth be told, I feel sad for him.

You are sadly misinformed. Jim Brady was not a Secret Service agent. Press secretary. Also, his affiliation with the Brady campaign-formerly HCI-is lending his name. Sarah Brady, his wife, is the head honcho.

A perusal of her personal history will lead one to doubt that she is honest in her 'campaign.' Her known actions in the past will rapidly lead one to the conclusion that while she doesn't want you and yours to have guns...it is quite alright for her and hers to have guns. Elite, don't you know?

This reminds me of the thread about getting a CCW in NYC, and how only people like Donald Trump can get one.

Where is the equality in that? Is my life worth less than someone with connections?

There was buzz a couple of years ago that Sarah Brady actually bought a gun for her son (a .22 rifle I think) who couldn't obtain one legally for himself. AKA - a straw purchase.

Forgiv my lack of details, and accept my apologies if this turns out to be disproven. I'll try and look it up and add it to this post if I find it.

Sarah bought a high-power rifle for her son. Isn't she a sweet mother? :barf: BTW, her whole campaign is because hubby Jim was a big gun collector and she, like many other women, hated guns. Guns to her were a waste of money that probably could be spent on vacations in exotic places, cruises, fancier home, etc.
