Draw from concealment, double tap at 10m on a 25yd PPC target. One round on either side of the "X" in the bulls eye. Total time... 1.6 seconds from bell to last bang.

I don't think I'll do that again anytime soon!

Shot a groundhog at about 500yds using a .243. Remington 700 action, 26 inch heavy barrel, bipod supported. 85gr. bthp sierra bullet. Chest shot.

1. Fox broadside running at about 440 in the neck 243 win. 70
2. Jack running at about 25 yds. draw and fire twice and hit both 22 colt new frontier
3. Coyote quartering right and running at 110 (lazer after the shot) head shot 22 old model ruger.

I can't pick the best.

S&W Mod. 66, 4", left handed only, double action, 5 shots under a quarter at about 10 yards.

I have two, one with a pellet gun, one with my S&W 28.

The pellet deal was pure luck, I never expected to hit what I was shooting at. There was a pigeon sitting in the tree, above the steel cable my Beagle ran up and down on, and he crapped on the dog several times, and I decided to scare him/her off. I put a pellet in, and from about 100 feet away, just fired in the general direction. I hit it right in the head, and down it went, where my dog tore it to pieces. It had a nice round hole in it's head, right behind his eye..

The second one I actually tried for. We were out shooting in the desert on my friend's property. We had a bunch of water jugs and assorted junk radios and lamps, etc, too, all picked out of people's trash on unlimited pickup. We had stull arranged out far enough that handgun shots were kind of a joke, those were for us to shoot with his .357 Winchester. We were calling off shots, and I said, "I'm going to try to hit the top of the silver lamp!". It was about 250' away, and was very small, about 15" high (and made out of some ceramic stuff with silver glaze on it). I took a long time aiming, and fired, and the top of the lamp was blown off. "Wow!" my friend said. Then I fired 5 more times. I hit the dirt in front of it twice, one went off to the side, where it hit a pile of junk wood (He was finishing building his house), and the other two hit the hill behind the lamp. I never got within a foot of it. I reloaded and walked up about 50', and tried again, and still missed. Fifty more, and I hit the bottom of it, and that finished it off. I cut myself very badly on the shrapnel when we were picking up all the junk to put into my truck to take to the dump.

Best single shot, even though it didn't actually involve a firearm: back when I was a child, I saw a crow flying over the farm field, across the road from my house. I'd estimate it was about 75 yards away. I pulled up my trusty slingshot, not expecting to hit a damn thing but lo and behold, shortly after I shot the BB, the crow took a nose dive into the ground.

Best series of shots: the first stage of my first IDPA match, I had all A zone hits with a damn good time also.

Red squirrel with a pellet rifle. It was an unsupported shot at about 75 yds. He peaked his head from behind a treetrunk and i nailed him through the eyes. I claim nothing but luck but dang i felt proud of myself when he fell out of the tree.

Two that'd I'd call my best, and both when shooting from retention...

1. Teaching a lady friend of mine to shoot out behind my old farm house in Bowing Green. Had been letting her do all of the shooting for about an hour, and she was doing well. I was telling her about shooting from retention, and warning that it took a lot of practice, and you had to be very careful about not getting your finger on the trigger until the muzzle had cleared the holster and was pointed at the target. She wanted a demo, so I stood in front of the target stand about 20 yards back, drew my Springfield 1911 and double tapped as soon as the muzzle came up. 2 shots, 1 ragged hole, DEAD center on the X. I saftied the gun, reholstered, and didn't say a word. My marksmanship is now legendary with her...

2. Down in southern Ohio, doing some informal trap shooting off the deck of my buddy's extremely remote cabin in the woods. We're shooting cleanup for each other. My friend yells "pull," takes his shot with his 1187 and misses. I lower my 870, draw and fire my 8" 629 from retention. Dust the clay pigeon at roughly 45 yards point shooting. Again, I reholster, smile, and pack up the guns for the rest of the weekend.
