I'm posting here for my co-worker who just got his first revolver - a S&W 340PD. The revolver is amazingly light :) But while checking it out I noticed that it appears that the cylinder is rubbing against the barrel as you close the cylinder. Once the cylinder actually closes, there does not appear to be any rubbing and the gap appears very tight without any endshake of the cylinder that I can see - it certainly feels tighter than my 642 with a few thousand rounds through it ;). I'm wondering if this is something that should be worried about and curious about why in the world it would rub ONLY when the cylinder is being closed, but not once it is fully closed. Any advice/ideas would be appreciated - thanks guys :)

Maybe a bent crane? Even if not, that's a problem that needs to be fixed.

If the gun was purchased new, it needs to go back to Smith & Wesson for repair work. If he calls them they'll send a prepaid UPS tag.
